Universal Healthcare Many people cannot afford good healthcare, but there may be a solution to this problem. In certain countries people already have access to free healthcare, but not in the United States. In countries such as Switzerland and Singapore, people have access to free healthcare, making the population happy and healthy. Although, some people think that healthcare shouldn’t be universal, healthcare should be universal because it would encourage people to go for healthcare when they need it; healthcare is a human right, and it would cut overall healthcare spending. If healthcare was universal, it would encourage people to go to hospitals when they need it. People are more likely to treat symptoms sooner rather than later and actually prevent a serious illness if they do not have to budget for it. Other people will claim that not very many people go and get unnecessary treatment, but that’s how serious illnesses come up.
The United States spends more on healthcare per capita than any other UN member nation. Switzerland’s public spending on health care is about half of America’s, and Singapore’s is about a fifth ("Right to Health Care ProCon.org."). People don’t like the idea of this because if we were to provide universal healthcare, system prices would skyrocket. This could be prevented by having one healthcare system and the cost would be the same for everyone.
As you can tell, Universal healthcare in the U.S. would benefit the population in many different ways.
