Persuasive Essay On Thursday Night
Get down...set...hut hut. The lights turn on, the gridiron tended to, and the footballs are inflated. For three nights a week American’s gather around the TV, grab finger foods, and watch players of the National Football League put their skills to work. While viewers seem to never tire of the multiple night event for thirteen weeks straight, critics argue the NFL needs to ex one of these nights completely. The recent controversy concerning Thursday Night Football is best handled through elimination. Elimination of the extra night of playing time as a whole solves concerns of injury, not enough preparation time for each game, and brand saturation. Many players, coaches, and fans have spoken out about their opinions concerning this issue, yet the biggest common issue remains as the extra risk of injury Thursday Night Football offers. Moreover, Thursday Night Football simply offers more for coaches to complain about and less time for teams to prepare for each game (Brown np). Starting in 1920, when the founding of the National Football League took place, they played an irregular game on the Thursday night of Thanksgiving each year, but rarely did they play nonholiday Thursday night games (Matther np). Throughout the 21 century, Thursday night games became more popular each year, now including a weekly Thursday night appearance …show more content…
On the other hand, that $700 million is $65 million less than the amount the NFL had to pay the group of former players who sued for misinformation and mishandling of concussions (Klemko np). Therefore, the NFL conceivably has the probability of recovering from the legal issue by selling a product which promotes the same issue, an extra night to put the players’ bodies at extended risk
