Persuasive Essay On Texting And Driving
TWD Commentary Texting while driving is a fairly new but very serious issue not only among teenagers but also adults. The issue is new because texting is a recently new way of communicating between individuals and since it is growing and becoming more popular most people text. Now put this common task to the test by driving at the same time and most of the time the result is not good. One of the main issues of this is car crash fatalities. There have been plenty of car crashes due to texting. People think that they can multitask and text while they drive but in reality most can’t and all shouldn’t. All it takes is for drivers to take their eyes off the road for a split second for a car crash to happen. Most the time though when they do text it can be for an extended amount of time and is even more dangerous. Drivers texting a simple message could result in them driving in the wrong lane and hitting head on with another driver and possibly death. Now not all texting while driving accidents result in fatalities but death is more serious than people just getting injured. Even though it is more serious, injuries are way more frequent than death. In statistics of Pennsylvania 2008 car crashes, 1298 accidents were cell phone related, nine of which resulting in death. This shows that a lot of accidents occur but most never involves death. But overall cell phones cause roughly a quarter of all accidents in the United Sates. Most of …show more content…
Adults can be as guilty as teenagers for texting. Most of the news on this issue is fixed on the teens because they text more than the adults but most adults and even some of elderly population know how to text. They can be as ignorant as the teens with texting and also dialing numbers to call people. The news is biased to teens, which is wrong. The media need to provide the general overview instead of targeting the specific age
