Persuasive Essay On Renewable Energy
Renewable energy sources like wind turbines and tidal barrages are better for the environment than nuclear power and fossil fuels. They also have the potential to last forever. So why are they not being used all over the world? A reason for this is because switching to renewable energy as a primary source would cost a lot of money. Some countries don’t think it is worth it, and others simply can’t afford to. There are also many nations that earn a vast amount of money from oil and coal, that wouldn’t make anywhere near as much if the world decided to switch to renewable sources. These are all perfectly reasonable arguments in favour of non-renewable sources, but eventually it will run out. According to ecotricity.co.uk coal could only last until 2088 and scientificAmerican.com says that nuclear power reactors might only run for about 200 more years. This is a long way away but it would be horrible to leave the planet polluted and without fuel for future generations. So should the world really start to work on putting renewable energy in every household? …show more content…
It would cost a fortune to make renewable energy the primary source of power on the planet. According to wind industry, a single commercial turbine could cost up to four million dollars. Some wind farms can have as many as 150 turbines leading to a total cost of 150 million dollars. This is actually cheaper than a coal or nuclear plant (these can cost billions) but in order to completely switch to renewable energy then you would have to abandon these facilities and build hundreds of wind farms. This is also the case with other renewable energy sources such as tidal barrages and geothermal power

There has been debating among people in the United States on how the best energy supply. Some people suggests that the United States should in fact decrease its dependency on oil and begin to invest in an alternative energy source like renewable energy, such as wind and solar power – Go green. Others have contended saying that converting over to a new power source would not only be expensive but it is unnecessary because the United Sates already has a sustainable energy source, we just have to search for the resources in unexplored areas within the country and Alaska and the Gulf Coast. Personally, I side with the individuals that agree that the United States invest in an alternative energy source. Renewable energy is already being practiced in some areas of the United States and it has been proven to be more cost effective and healthier for the environment.…

In this time energy is one of the most sought after resources we ask for. It powers just about everything we deal with and use on a daily basis. From the ATM to the charger for your phone. This energy costs money yet should we just throw the money towards the simplest solution at the time, or would it be wiser to look towards the long term use of the method of making energy? Renewable energy while it 's most negative aspect is the costly measures of setting it up has possibly one of the best three aspects about it. One it emits little to no greenhouse gases. Second it is an energy source that renews itself so it has little chance of actually running…

Because of the climate change, the earth is in danger. People don’t realize that the things they use or do every day are hurting the earth and living things. Nature.org says, “…one-fourth of Earth’s species will be headed for extinction by 2050 if the warming trend continues at its current rate…” Because the temperature is increasing, ice is melting. Because ice is melting, sea levels are rising. Higher temperatures don’t only melt ice but evaporates the moisture in the air. Evaporation will take away all of the land’s water leaving it as dry as a desert. With a drought now in progress, it will make it harder to find water and support agriculture.…

With politicians and scientists constantly publicizing global warming and the effects of climate change, our energy usage is rapidly becoming a major concern. Each state is slowly, but surely, moving towards cleaner energy such as wind or solar energy. However, almost every state has different terrains and therefore needs to figure out which source of energy is their best option. As an energy consultant, hired by Baker’s Energy Act, I recommend that Connecticut stops relying on nuclear energy and fully transitions towards being a solar dependent state instead.…

Over the years, there has been a huge debate whether using renewable energy is beneficial to our environment or not. The biggest source of our energy has been sourced by coal, oil and natural gasses. Some researchers believe that there are many benefits of using renewable energy and that we should be concerned with seeking environmentally friendly alternatives instead. Not only are these sources harmful, they will eventually deplete our natural resources. The goal is to find pollution-free renewable energy that can offer a better future.…

College athletes deal with busy school schedules and practice schedules all throughout their week, so why shouldn't they be paid for their time dedicated to sports? Since the beginning of college football, college athletes have never been paid for their efforts in sports. Sure they have received scholarships, but young students that don’t have much money can't always balance school, practice, and a job. College football players should be paid to help them pay for their everyday needs, give them the money they played hard to earn, and to eliminate recruiting and secret payments.…

Climate change has been a controversial topic for the past few years and this is a topic that needs to be addressed immediately. Even though there are people in the world who say climate change does not exist or that climate change is a hoax to make people buy certain products, the end result is true. Climate change will kill the human race and everything else on the planet. We can see the effects of climate change now with the temperatures rising, the arctic and land ice decreasing as time goes by, this is not caused naturally. In fact, we can show proof since the industrial age the sudden spike in carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. With carbon dioxide the highest it’s ever been in 650,000 years. This is causing sea levels to rise as well…

The practice of assisted suicide in the field of medicine is one of the most controversial issues facing us as a society today. Euthanasia of a patient is a taboo that can get a doctor’s license to practice medicine revoked and the doctor can face incarceration for his/her actions which are classified as a homicide. This practice is not something I believe should be looked down upon or tabooed as many other believe. It is a matter of choice, something that should be allowed to any terminally ill patient who wishes it so long as they are mentally competent to make such a decision. There is also a precedent for assisted suicides in the Physician Aid in Dying, or PAD laws in the states of Washington, Oregon, and Montana where patients can be assisted in causing their own deaths. Others may say it devalues human life and that it is an unethical act, which is not true since it is more helping the people by taking the pain away from them during the end of their lives. I don’t believe that euthanasia is just giving the patient the choice of giving up, but rather the choice to be done with the pain and control one’s fate if that pain is too much for them to handle or to keep fighting if they wish to.…

“Euthanasia”, “mercy killing”, and “physically assisted suicide” – no matter what it is called – they all mean the same thing: ending a person’s life who is in a vegetative state or who is suffering from terminal illness, in order to relieve the subject of pain and suffering associated with their condition. But the main question is, is euthanasia right? Everyone dies, and if a person is terminally ill, then they should have the right to decide to pass away without the suffering.…
