Ont.,was battling an injury to his right hip that bothered him during a practice session, that was bad timing for Radford and figure skating pairs partner Meagan Duhamel. Was there anything IOC (International Olympic Committee) could have dune to prevent these accidents from happening?
What changes could the Olympics have? The Olympics should have stricter regulations around physical health conditions that may cause further injuries to the athlete. Having greater padding such as hay bails on sharp turns for road races and softer padding for impact absorption for gymnastics could prevent injuries. There should be more careful calculations and pre testing of tracks and curves, for example, in luge, bobsled and downhill skiing. Local athletes associations must ensure the safety of young athletes and parents make certain that they do so. For the protection of the athletes the Olympic games need to be run more safely.
