Good morning fellow band members, I am here today to persuade you that songs provide an effective way to comment on social issues. The song I will be analysing and talking about is John Lennon’s best-selling single of his solo career, Imagine. ‘Imagine’ by John Lennon is a protest song with a strong political message, sugar coated by a beautiful melody. This song was written during the height of the war in Vietnam, throughout the song Lennon was asking us to imagine a place, where things that divide humanity for instance religion and possessions did not exist. In other words, Lennon was asking us to imagine a world filled with peace and purged of war, greed and poverty. Lennon cleverly utilises a range of language features and musical elements

Everyone begins to think that in life that's all that matters, and that's all they need, nothing could be better. Who is your hero? Usually the answer to this question, at least for many of us, involves a famous actor or singer, a celebrity. The celebrities of the world are the wealthiest, most beautiful and most stylish individuals to walk upon the planet.
