Persuasive Essay On Drunk Drivers
How many times have you encountered a news segment about an innocent person being involved in a car accident all because of a drunk driver? Some of the victims in the situation survive and recover. Often times there's also the loss of a family member or friend to someone else. Imagine if you were in that situation. A drunk driver strikes someone really close to you, but thankfully the person recovers. However, the felon is charged and sentenced to 30 days in prison. Once the person is released, they can drive again and possibly put more people in danger. Wouldn't you be furious no hard actions were taken against the driver? This is why I believe drunk drivers should lose their driver's license for an entire year or more. Now, let's look at statistics. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention talks about Motor Vehicle Safety and states, “ Every day, 28 people in the United States die in motor vehicle crashes that involve an alcohol-impaired driver. This amounts to one death every 53 minutes.1 The annual cost of alcohol-related crashes totals more than $44
