Therefor I don’t think our school board should add time to each school day. I think we should keep our schedule starting at 7:30 and ending at 2:30. That way we can get home do chores, play and go to any afterschool activities. If we changed our school hours that would interfere with parents/guardians work schedules. Now with the schedules our school has we don’t get to restless with the teachers or other…

“42 states reported that most (75%-100%) public schools started before 8:30 a.m” (“Schools Start Too Early”). Most schools start before 8:30. A decent amount of schools start around 7:20. Schools start early in the day and release later in the afternoon. This has become routine, but studies show that students who start early in the day perform worse in school compared to those who start later in the day. Schools should implement a later start time for higher schoolers since high schoolers would get around the recommended amount of sleep, preventing sleeping in school and high schoolers academics and safety will increase, since they will get enough sleep to study before school and prevent drowsiness.…

Since the beginning of the school year, the district has been undertaking all the different ideas that the parents want for their kids to get more sleep. However, a later start shouldn't be the answer because it has numerous major conflicts with activities, free time, and other aspects that take part in teen and adolescents lives. Students everywhere would like a later start, even if it's minor. The district sees this, but superfluous conflicts continue to materialize if the final decision is to do the delay in the morning. However, another solution that could give the youth a chance to get rest and still keep up with their activities, would to have an early release every Friday. Instead of having a two-hour late start every month, a better resolution would be to shorten the school day at the end of the week. This would allow students to spend time with family and friends, get all their homework done, and maybe even get a nap in before the weekend even starts. Littleton Public Schools district should decide an answer to this problem they have been working on, but still consider all the different solutions and opinions before determining the final…

Parents think that it is horrifically challenging to move schedules up and back with the school districts. Why? Parents have busy schedules with work and have to change their work setting or call into their job and say that they are late. It is a very confusing aspect because students want to start later for the better benefit of them. On the other hand parents have to get to work early and make sure that there kids are at school at the same time. Parents seem to struggle abundantly when it comes to school starting later. Sometimes they have to call someone to take their kids because they have a different working schedule than their kids going to school. One reason school start times should be later than they are now is because junior high and high school students are “programmed” to stay up late and sleep in. During teenage years, students bodies are designed to stay up later and sleep in. Both When Sleep Becomes A Nightmare, an article written by Scholastic, and the National Sleep Foundation website agree with just that! Nancy Shute, an award-winning science journalist, stated on npr.com “...it’s difficult, if not impossible, for them to fall asleep before 10:30.” If students fall asleep at 10:30 pm and get the recommended amount of rest, which is 9 ½ hours, students should not wake up until 7:00 am. Some schools have already started class at this…

Many parents wouldn’t have time to take their children to school before work.…
