In 2013 I find out I have tore my ACL and both meniscus at a national competition for my competitive cheer team. My mindset at this time was based all around my athletics. There wasn’t a day I could go without doing some sort of athletic activity. I was known as a adrenaline junky, and I still am. The moment I hit the mat the day of my injury, my whole body seemed to go numb; including my mind. I knew at that moment my whole way of living was about to change, and it did. Sitting in the Dallas, Texas emergency room, my mom was already on the phone with a local surgeon back home. With my personality, I don not listen to certain doctors it I haven’t gained their trust. So of course when the doctors at the ER told me it was just a meniscus…

Sports get physical no matter if it is contract or not, one of the major problems with getting tossed around is head trauma. Concussions happen when someone sustains a hard hit to the head and gets their “bell rung”. This is where the brain hits against the skull damaging part of it. This is a very serious injury that cannot be taken lightly because if not properly treated it can have ill effects down the road that can lead to more serious problems. In high school sports it's all about winning and some players and coaches lose sight of the safety aspect in sports. The big problem with this is if an athlete sustains a concussion and keeps playing, they are just setting themselves up for failure. What needs to happen is today's coaches and athletes need to be properly…

Concussions are a big topic in sports today more than what they were a few years ago. Many athletes suffer from concussions do to helmet to helmet contact or from extremely hard hits. A concussion is a traumatic brain injury that alters the way your brain functions and may result in temporary unconsciousness. I agree that an athlete should be pulled temporarily from any game or sports activities if they suffer from a concussion if they are younger than eighteen. But if they are eighteen or older they have the right to put their selves back out there since they are considered adults.…

As you can see grass is better than turf because that turf leads to more injuries and has more traction so you can see more injuries on turf. But if you don't keep care of your grass then you might have more injuries on grass. But if you keep care of your grass then more injuries are gonna happen on turf. Most people play on turf because it looks good but people should look deeper and it's not about the looks all the time you should look into injuries too stop them. Has one ever see or experience playing on a turf field, well that is pretty common actually. Turf is a popular thing and has a lot of upsides to it. More than 11,000 fields in North America are covered with artificial grass (Keilman). The numbers speak for itself more and more people rather have turf fields than grass fields. Teams and schools across the country are turning to turf fields even some parks are starting to have turf fields. Nearly everywhere, teams have replaced their fields (Fisher). This proves that turf is a positive thing because people are going out of their way to have a turf field. People also use fields for more than just playing on them. People use the fields all the time…

In my three years of being a student at Mukwonago High School, I have gone to every football game, volleyball game, soccer game, basketball game, baseball game, tennis match, the list could go on. However, after hearing about the proposal to eliminate sports from our high school, I came to a heartbreaking realization that these magnificent memories and future memories of mine and for many could be wiped away completely. As tradition at the beginning of varsity football games, we begin with an “I believe that we will win” cheer, but it is more than just the idea of winning that draws so many fans to the stands for every sport. It is the live experience and ability to show pride to your school. It is the wobbling bleachers holding hundreds of students’ weight and the sound of a roaring crowd before your team comes onto the field or court.…

Whether you are a professional athlete or an amateur athlete it has always been a dream to represent your country at the Olympics. The Question is should professional athletes be able to compete? Some think they shouldn’t but professional athletes have worked just as hard or maybe even harder than anyone else to get to that level. Professional athletes are the top athletes in the world which would create more revenue for the Olympics, a sense of national pride when winning for your country, and they are paid millions of dollars to do their sport why would you not let them compete?…

Some parents worry about their children spending time on fields that may produce cancer causing agents. Professional sports experts suggest artificial turf may cause more knee injuries to athletes because of cleats on shoes sticking in the synthetic field (Patton 2).
