Persuasive Essay About High School Sports
Most kids have memories of playing sports at a young age but don't play them today. Playing sports during high school can actually be a huge struggle for teens, especially depending on how many sports they play. I've played a variety of sports sense I was 3 years old and I haven't let go of any of them sense then. As an athlete I've really learned how to overcome several different struggles to partake in something I love while still excelling in my education.

For three years now I have been a three sport high school athlete, and keep in mind I've only been a high school student for two years now. Struggling with homework and time management has always been difficult. From long bus rides to late practices keeping up with school gets really hard and takes a lot of dedication. Overcoming physical injuries with mental persistence has been a long term goal of mine. Hearing the phrase "mind over matter" (Lyell) is just something you hear on a daily basis during practices and games. Finally participating and working to achieve a common goal with people I may not get along with has been a huge part of my athletic career. Through bullying and fighting and cattiness, I've been able to still work with others.

90 minutes to make or break your season. The grass under your cleats when arriving at the pitch. Wind blowing through jerseys while sprinting to get the ball. The silky feel of your school colors on your sweaty skin. The thrill achieved by that one perfect kick straight into the feet of the waiting teammate right next to the goalie's box. The skill and precision that goes into one sport that the world goes crazy for. Imagine dribbling across the length of the pitch and passing the ball, waiting for that pass back to complete the two-touch the team has been practicing endlessly. The ball is coming straight at you at break-neck speed. It’s too high to stop with your feet, what do you do? You breathe, take a look at your coach who is chewing ferociously…

The animals are ready to burst out of their cages and breathe the fresh air of middle school grounds. Students frantically begin to hush their peers in order to be the first let out. In the jungle, there are always two or three monkeys that decide to create chaos. Among the others, mumbling could be heard about the upcoming games about to take place. Many already started to decide what teams and students would be taking over the field. In Wilson Southern Middle School, those monkeys at recess decided to play a rule-breaking game of shark and minnows. Along with this game, they played a back breaking lunch bag tag, and an awkward imaginary game. Recess does not only contain games, but it has a huge impact on the body and its health.…

We get what life hands us and sometimes it is good, but sometimes it is bad. A great activity offered by schools is softball and I am very thankful for that. First, softball makes a big difference in health. Second, we can get a good scholarship by playing softball and if we are a good enough player. Last, if we play softball, we are able to get physical with the other players. As can be seen, it is a good thing schools give us the opportunity to have all these great activities. First of all, softball really improves our health a lot. When we go up to swing the bat and we swing really hard, it works our arm muscles and makes us stronger. All we do in softball is run laps. We hit the ball we get to run the bases or if the ball is hit by another player we have to run to it to catch the ball, sometimes we do not get to catch it. If we practice we have to run the fence three times before practice is over which is not fun. When I play softball I am not allowed to have pop, the only things I am aloud to drink is water or Gatorade. I am fine with drinking either of those because they are both good and healthy. After all, this is why…

Have you ever made a bet that has either put pressure on another person or made them do something that they shouldn’t? It’s usually young people who make bets that aren’t serious, like, “I bet you won’t do that!” Sometimes it’s something that will get you trouble, other times it could get you hurt, most of the bets that I’ve heard have been about, “I bet you won’t eat that!” When you’re an adult, it’s usually not the case.…

One reason high school sports aren’t beneficial is because they create a lot of pressure. According to the video “Do Athletes Face Unnecessary Parent Pressure?” by KCRA, sports are sometimes the only way students can get into a good college and be able afford it. This puts a lot of pressure on the athletes to perform at their best 100% of the time. Experts say that your child's entire team will suffer if the parents are pressuring their kids (KCRA.com, “Do Athletes Face Unnecessary Parent Pressure?” ). This fact is important because it proves, when parents put pressure on their children it does not benefit them, in fact it is actually setting them up for life in an unhealthy way. This shows that the pressure from sports is not good and not worth it.…
