Persuasive Essay About Dating Research Paper
Dating today is a minefield of political correctness, social and cultural expectations, and a supposed freedom to date who you want regardless of age, race, gender or religion. Mixed with this is a society where single people are often working more hours than they've ever worked in the past, and are not able to get out and meet as many potential dates as they'd like.

Younger people tend to be more free and easy with dating nowadays. The formalities of meeting parents, and only going to places where they are known are relics of a bygone age, as is the certainty that the man will both pick up the tab for the date, and make sure that his girl is brought safely home to her door. These things, once thought to be the sign of a true gentleman, are now deemed to be the

You would be unlikely to date a married person unless you knew about it, and workplace promiscuity was not quite on the level that it is today; oh sure they would have been the office Romeo, but generally his reputation would have been more talk than action, whereas today his known action is unfortunately only likely to be the tip of the iceberg!

The one shining point about dating today is this supposed freedom to date who we are attracted too. This however falls down when it's clashed against social and cultural prejudice. It's all very well to date the people you want, but only in so far as the other people around don't find the relationship objectionable.

When you enter today's dating scene, proceed with caution. Keep your instincts sharp at all times and really listen to what people have to say. They may not be accurate in what they say, their opinions may not count for much with you, but by listening to the voices, you learn what external factors to the relationship that you may need to confront in due

Throughout these days in society it seems as if popular culture has started to inherit the desire for the “Bad Boy” image in not only the dating scene, but the meeting room as well. Let us first investigate how dominance and agreeableness come into play within the dating realm. When it comes to dating, there are two possible routes to pursue. The first route can be thought of as the “short term” approach, focusing on the here and now. This type of dating involves having multiple partners with no intent of becoming emotionally attached and seeking out sexual satisfaction. A vast majority of those who withhold this type of dating ideology are physically attractive and sexy (Gangestad & Thornhill, 1997; Thornhill & Gangestad, 1994). Along with the looks, internal traits often include dominance within a social context (Jobling, 2002; Kruger et al.,…

Technology has implemented itself in almost every aspect of our daily lives, and the new big thing we have currently is the rave of online dating. Computers are day in day out coming out with new dating websites, and people are buying into the whole idea of it being a last resort and only option left. Of course it is so much easier to sit on a computer and explain detailed information about yourself and come up with matches or results, but where was this decades ago when there was no such thing as the internet. Before computers this means that men and women actually had to go out in public and communicate back and forth to find their life partners.…

“Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, the wretched refuse of your teeming shore, send the homeless tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door.” Reference? America has long been the land of freedom and hope to the world, and the American military is what has kept her that way. People have forgotten how important and valuable the military is to the world that we live in. As part of the Budget Control Act of 2011, automatic sequestration calls for $1.2 trillion in lowered federal spending, with 50% coming from defense and 50% coming from non-defense budgets. If Congress cannot reach an agreement, these cuts will reduce the Department of Defense spending by about $55 billion dollars. On September 11, 2001, the United States faced a difficult time in which 3,000 lives were lost due to an attack upon the U.S. by terrorists who hijacked airplanes and crashed them into the Twin Towers in New York City, the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia, and the United States Pennsylvania! That day, 9/11, has become a day in which we remember the lives that were lost and the families who were affected by such a tragedy. We called on our military once again, and they were there to protect our country. I am against automatic sequestration towards the military and military programs for many reasons.…

It is important to know who kids are hanging out with. If the person they are dating does not meet my standards, then they will no longer be dating my child. Again, a safe and fun dating experience is very important. The boy or girl they are with must be polite and comely. Excessive piercings or tattoos of any kind will not be allowed in my house or anywhere near my child. They must know how to act around my children and myself. No swearing or incorrect grammar, like "ain't" and double negatives; they should sound smart and at least average B's in school. If I, or my husband, notices any strange or dissolute actions from their date, they are…

In the book Dating and the Single Parent Ron Deal walks the single parent through the process of dating again. This book is broken into three sections. Section one has five chapters and is titled “Getting Past the Butterflies and Warm Fuzzes.” In the beginning Deal starts with “Dating in a Crowd: Dating with Purpose.” (29) With this in mind the reader begins to understand you will be dating the entire family. Deal describes different types of daters, and warns the reader against the “Consumer daters who want guarantees” (44) about the dates. These consumer daters want the dates to be their all in all and meet their every need. Deal also describes the thought of “Mirror, Mirror on the Wall; Am I Ready to Date? (47) This section describes “the impact loss has on you, and your willingness to surrender to God’s direction regarding divorce and remarriage.” (58) While determining if you are ready to date; Deal lists the readiness factors: can you handle being alone, trusting in God, looking at past issues, and asking the questions like, “What in my past can I not shake?” This is getting yourself and kids ready for dating. While thinking of fear as the main hurdle in beginning to date, Deal suggests you not “sidestep” (83) your fear but “acknowledge it.” (83) Not only your fear but how to handle the kids’ fears and concerns in the dating world. Deal explains “When a parent dates, kids feel the shift in direction away from them and the family; this ignites their fear of more loss.” (98)…

<br>People who date and socialize with people of different racial groups frequently experience negative reactions. Many of the disapproving messages come from people of their own racial group. They scoff and make fun of the idea that they are dating someone with a different tone of skin or ethnic background. According to a poll taken in 1992, many people believe that people should date within their race to keep the unity within the ethnic community. It is like they believe in sequestering each racial group. They believe that every race is uniquely special and should not be integrated. Mixing races would only cause problems.…

In some places, there is no choice of who you can date or marry. For example, if you were from a family of strict Asian descent and you wanted to date outside your race you probably would be forbidden by your parents to do so. Usually their customs is to date and have an arranged marriage with their own ethnicity. I understand the fact that some countries follow a certain custom, but there should always be a freedom of choice in who you want to date. Also, some towns in the Deep South wouldn’t even dare to date the opposite race because there is still racism and terrorism going on. Those places are still to this day segregated by race in every way so they believe it’s best to keep blacks with blacks and whites with whites. However, in the past most black people believed that they should couple in their own ethnicity to keep pure black families and strong black couples alive. There is nothing wrong with that choice either because there…

Persuasive Essay : Many people would be happy and satisfied if they were in a relationship with money and fame. Doesn't that seem like the perfect life? Everyone begins to think that in life that's all that matters, and that's all they need, nothing could be better. Society dictates our morals, feelings, the way we do things and try's to tell us certain things we do are wrong and we need to do them the way they feel necessary. Our generations to come will have no clue what the meaning of a true, harmonious, happy life. They begin to think that not telling the truth is ok , and eventually get so use to it that even if they could hear the truth they wouldn't want to. It becomes part of their daily life. Clearly our society, or government has their own sneaky, conniving ways to try and brain wash everyone. Due to the problem that most people would rather have love, money, and fame, it's very rare to find some one who doesn't have any of that but is satisfied with only knowing the truth. People look up to celebrities, but they do not set good examples or try to be role models. In proposing a solution to the problem of adhering to the actions of celebrities, the analysis relates to Henry David Thoreau's belief in individuality as he talked about in his book Walden. Who is your hero? Usually the answer to this question, at least for many of us, involves a famous actor or singer, a celebrity. The celebrities of the world are the wealthiest, most beautiful and most stylish individuals to walk upon the planet. These icons, however, seem to have no moral dilemma whatsoever with corrupting the public. They are role models to the public, just as parents are role models to their children. Children mirror the actions of their parents, as does society the actions of celebrities. Suddenly, few people in the world are content because they do not live the same lifestyle as Madonna or Michael Jordan. Henry David Thoreau offers solutions in his work, Walden, to the constant societal…
