Persuasive Animal Testing
For a long period of time, scientists have tested on animals in order to develop information about the human body. However, there have been many complaints from people about animal experimentation who say it is disastrous for animals. Recent studies have said that most animals don't come out of testing 100% the way they were before the testing. Animals have suffered from emotional and physical traumas, and possibly death during the procedures. On the other hand, some people say the testing has contributed to life-saving cures for humans and also animals. Although this may be true, testing on animals can be harmful and painful for an animal to go through, and since animals aren't similar to humans, animals can be deprived of their lives when it comes to animal experimentation. “Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty,” says Albert Einstein. Testing on animals has always brought up an argument between people who think it is right or wrong. In the first place, experimenting on animals can be very dangerous and over 100 million animals are burned, crippled, poisoned, or abused in US labs every year …show more content…
There is no animal that can be a model to use in experimentation because of the differences between human and animal bodies. Even though humans come from a long history of primates, there is no real evidence that that information is true. Incidentally, there was an experiment in the 1950s where a sleeping pill that was tested on animals caused thousands of babies to be born with birth defects. In fact, many labs pass inspection even when there are legal violations occurring. On the contrary, without animal research, millions of dogs, cats, and birds would be dead from more than 200

Many people today can say they love their pet, whether it is a dog, a cat, a rabbit, or fish. Little do we actually think about the animals suffering to the torture of cruel animal testing that goes on behind the scenes of the company’s we love. Maybelline, Head and Shoulders, and Clorox are all companies that test on animals, yet are still supported by the thousands of people that buy and use their products. I believe the main reason people continue to support companies that perform animal testing is because society today is not informed or educated about the severity of animal testing. People do not know or care to research if a company performs animal testing. Besides consumers keeping these companies alive and running, animal testing is not humane or morally right. It has been scientifically proven that animals can to a certain extent feel pain (Tell Me if it Hurts: Investigating Whether Animals Feel Pain by Caroline…

Do you like giving your home a nice spring cleaning or sprucing yourself up with cosmetics? If so, then you are condoning animal experimentations. Many name brands, such as Clorox and L’Oreal, use horrible methods to test their products on animals. To be specific, roughly 170,000 rabbits are bred and used purely for testing in the beauty industry and go through chemical blindness and fur loss because of a product meant for humans. How is that humane? Rabbits are not the only animals that are succumbed to the sickening procedures of experiments. Primates, cats, dogs, mice and rats are also some animals that are commonly known to be tested on. There are many alternatives to animal testings, but universities, militaries and laboratories decide…

Unfortunately, that has been the fate of millions of animals every year dating back since before the nineteenth century. Researchers believe they are helping people by putting animals through these cruel experiments, but it has been proven that most of the results end up being incorrect in human trials. Animal testing can be dated back to the ancient times of the Greeks and Romans. Physicians would dissect animals with the pure interest to obtain knowledge. But even then, one such physician stated that he would rather use a pig as his subject because he wanted to, “ avoid seeing the unpleasant expression of an ape” (Monamy 9). The ethics of animal testing has always been questioned. Humans do not want to think of animals as on the same level of us. The similarity is terrifying and makes the cruelty obvious. When discussing the idea of Animal Testing, there are generally two trains of thought: one who is against it for the animals sake, and the other who argue it's for the name of science. Even though it may seem like we need animal testing…

For instance, many animals are hurt, tortured, and sometimes killed while tests are performed on them. “Animals used in experiments are commonly subjected to force feeding, forced inhalation, food and water deprivation, prolonged periods of physical restraint, the infliction of burns and other wounds to study the healing process, the infliction of pain to study its effects and remedies, and "killing by carbon dioxide asphyxiation, neck-breaking, decapitation, or other means" (Humane Society International, "About Animal Testing," hsi.org (accessed Oct. 15, 2013)). These are some of the many ways animals are hurt during the process of animal testing. It’s sad and cruel that people do this to animals. Overall, animal testing is an evil, harsh thing to do innocent…
