‘Jack’ was pictured as being a middle aged man living his life alone and wearing a long black coat to cover up any blood stains seeing as he only killed in public places.…
Ladies and Gentleman, I come to bring you evidence of why Jack is guilty of first degree murder, conspiracy, and leaving a child unattended near a fire. Throughout the time that Jack had on the island, he made many conflictions with other boys. One of these boys is Ralph, who Jack tries vigorously to steal power from. The main theme of this case is power, which Jack is addicted to. An example of Jack trying to physically steal power is when he steals Piggy’s glasses. The glasses alone have much power, with the ability to create fire. Jack pointed suddenly. “His specs- use them as burning glasses!” (Golding 40). Although all of the boys participated in the murdering of Simon, Jack was a big role in it. He murdered, not killed, but murdered Simon.…
In the early stages of the book, Jack is still portrayed as an innocent young boy, being very afraid with the idea of killing a living creature. “I let them go. I had to go on. I…” Jack realizes that the boys are craving for meat and successful hunting is crucial to satisfy their needs. However, throughout the whole quote, Jack…
Different characters provide different symbols. Jack is a symbol of savagery and anarchy. Golding relates this to the evil and cruel people in the world. When Jack first arrives on the island he is excited to have rules for their new settlement. Jack exclaims on pg. 33 “ We’ll have rules!” he cried excitedly. “Lots of rules!…” Jack changes his view on rules towards the end of the story because he rebels from Ralph’s leadership and starts his own clan. Jack’s character goes from a choirboy who doesn’t have that much power to a savage and power hungry character without guidelines. While Jack’s first attempt to kill the pig failed, his quote “ Before I could kill it-but-next time!” foreshadowed his future of savage hunting. When Jack shows signs of belligerence by arguing with Ralph, the meaning of a child is stressed. The fighting of Jack and Ralph in the early chapters, foreshadows the future conflicts between them in the future. In chapter four called “ Painted Faces and Long Hair”, Jack’s savagery is becoming more known. Jack’s mask of face paint represents a cover that he can hide behind, which liberates and frees him, allowing him to do anything when wearing it, without worrying about any important matters. Jack still does not understand Ralph’s concern with the fire, and…
To conclude, Jack spends nearly the whole book trying to get power over Ralph, and when he finally does, he uses it for evil instead of actually helping his tribe like he promised. Jack knows that he has to be leader and makes that goal happen for himself. Even if that means a little murder here and…
He didn’t say. He got angry and made us tie Wilfred up. He’s been’--he giggled excitedly--‘he’s been tied for hours, waiting--’” (Golding 159). At first, the situation sounds very ambiguous, but with closer interpretation, it is clear that Jack is abusing his power. Instead of following an ordered system of trial, Jack is “going to beat” Wilfred without a proper accusation. When “[Robert] giggled excitedly”, he doesn’t understand the implications behind a fair and equal justice system. Without a strong justice system, people like Wilfred are faced with punishments that they don’t deserve. As Beccaria had believed, a strong justice system helps enforce the laws, maintain order within a society, and provide people like Wilfred with fair trials. After this scene, the boys slowly began to lean towards savagery. When they refused to instill a fair and equal justice system, this led them to a state of inhumanity. These consequences further led them to an immoral society as Beccaria had predicted. The lack of a proper justice system ultimately leads the boys to…

Living in London was very hard at the time of Jack the Ripper. For example, houses were often over crowded, streets were mazelike and the streets were very noisy because of the trains which meant that the noisiness could cover the sounds of the victims screams.…
Jack’s lack of supervision started when he lived in a hotel in San Juan by himself without his parents, he made housekeeping cleanup for him, went to visit his mom and made her do his laundry. Living on his own was a way for him to do what he wanted on his own and when he wanted to which he proved was a way to show his lack of responsibility. Second example of Jack’s lack of supervision is when jack lived in the Bacon’s house, he would turn his music on full blast and not care what no one says. He was sort of taking advantage of the Bacon’s not knowing he was doing it. The final example is Jack doesn’t even ask anyone for advice he just starts making the crates with Rick. Jack is selfish and doesn’t want to listen to anyone he does stuff not knowing he could get in trouble. In the case of Jacks lack of supervision he lands himself with 6 years on his jail time.…
