Personality development theory

This paper will serve as a fact sheet and will answer questions pertaining to the gene environment and interaction influence personalities, personality expressions in cultures, twin studies, temperament, and the characteristics of constancy over a period of time. The term personality was originated from a specific place and is exponentially more complex although there are some assumptions when developing theories on personality alone.

Any type of behaviors that are produced by a conscious choice is known as a free will or forces that are deemed as determined by a person’s control. In my opinion, free will expressions are contrary to the power to choose their actions and the extremity of influence in factors of heredity is none other than influenced by environmental factors. The term personality was originated from a specific place and is exponentially more complex although there are some assumptions when developing theories on personality alone. These factors are learned behaviors in which plays a significant role in the predetermined role of personality traits. For instance; if I do not follow good eating techniques I am most likely to contract high blood pressure and diabetes like my grandparents, aunts and uncles or possibly heart disease like my mother. For these reasons it can definitely be assumed that we as human beings do have free will and the choices we make are sometimes life changing whether the results are good or bad. Heredity is could be viewed as a maker or breaker and in my case it was a breaker because I have diabetes and high blood pressure but the choices that I made were impacted by my own free will and environment. A gene environment influences personality by way of intermediate traits or outcome measures that serves as a mediate effect of genetically drawn environmental influences especially on risk behaviors. The biological determinants are proximal to these measures are considered risk behaviors all in one. However, they can definitely be assessed with experimental models. For example in morbid obesity there are more than 65 percent of culturally populated areas who will suffer from a morbid state. They can be assed with experimental models that share similar phenotypes and individual differences. Obesity studies have shown a twist in how to reduce these factors and it included decreasing food intake and increasing more vegetables in their diets. Some obese people are genetically drawn into obesity and the outcome differs from person to person. These measures are considered risk behaviors all in one. However, they can definitely be assessed with experimental models. To get back on subject, these are measures of gene-environments that are a part of dimensions of personality and temperament that are biologically based on the increased individualized behaviors. As a matter of fact, most gene-environments are interactions and are intermediate phenotypes that provide tools that are more complex. These are complexities that must be used with caution especially when extrapolating a clinical application in researching it. Culture is a factor in personality expression and it plays a significant role in the development of certain personalities in general. Twin studies show inheritability of personalities through a personal approach. Twins are linked by genes that are biologically set in place by a genetic influence. Twin studies are also a part of a genetically drawn environment that links more than one trait. The genetic environmental factors are a part of the five factor model of personality and have been measured by assessment. The facet factors displayed scales that show a substantial heritability which influences a no addictive genetic gene. Biological determinants of personalities have gotten a lot of attention of the last couple of years especially in family therapy because most parent are now reaching out for help in understanding children’s behaviors. Some children display stubborn behaviors, grumpy, selfish, and attitudes. These are all a part of a generalized behavior’s that may continue if it’s not properly treated during early childhood it will surely stay fully developed into adulthood. There are specific characteristics that are developed of a period of time which there are behaviors that may never go away. I have a cousin who has displayed these characteristics as a child and as an adult has grown into a person no one want to be around and it’s a very sad thing to have when family is all you got. A biological model can be used in different ways such as math, organisms and the ecosystem but in this summary it defines the biological model as a reference to a direct theory that speaks about the different origins of psychological distress and mental illnesses that had originated deep into the 19th century. Another term we spoke about earlier in this summary is the five factor trait theory. This theory is exactly what it says it is which are; openness to experience, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness, and neurocism. Each of these factors has constituent traits that are contrary to their own definitions. This model is a comprehensive model and is data driven. These big five components were traits that were used as a model to understand the relationship between academic behaviors and personality. The temperament model of personality is another term that has its part in personalities and behaviors. Temperament is a term that categorizes a person’s individual behavior at certain periods of their life stages. Temperament is behaviors that are a person’s results of all influences of both the past and the present that is responsible for shaping a person’s behaviors in during a constant interactive process. Temperament is a basic premise and is linked to a phenomenon set that has a very important developmental history instead of a characteristic that is hard wired. A manifestation of behaviors is the first principle during development changes, the second is a more sensitive developmentally assessment phase that also changes through development. And the third is an observed direct individualized difference which through the temperament phase can be characterized by the two. In conclusion:

This paper answered questions pertaining to the gene environment and interaction influence personalities, personality expressions in cultures, twin studies, temperament, and the characteristics of constancy over a period of time. This summary also gave examples to show cause and plausibility to which contents was given. The term personality was originated from a specific place and is exponentially more complex although there are some assumptions when developing theories on personality alone. Psychology alone is a rather interesting career path and I am excited about being a part of it. This summary also talked about types of behaviors that were produced by a conscious choice that is known as a free will or forces that are deemed as determined by a person’s control. In my opinion, free will expressions are contrary to the power to choose their actions and the extremity of influence in factors of heredity is none other than influenced by environmental factors. The biological determinants are proximal to these measures are considered risk behaviors all in one. However, they can definitely be assessed with experimental models. For example in morbid obesity there are more than 65 percent of culturally populated areas who will suffer from a morbid state this number was shocking. They can be assed with experimental models that share similar phenotypes and individual differences. Biological determinants of personalities have gotten a lot of attention of the last couple of years especially in family therapy because most parent are now reaching out for help in understanding children’s behaviors. Some children display stubborn behaviors, grumpy, selfish, and attitudes. We broke down the factors pertaining to genetics, biological determinants, and temperament in this summary.
