Mathematics is highly valued in our society but for many students the thought of learning mathematics is daunting. Learning mathematics in primacy school may have been a positive experience but it may have also been filled with frustration and anxiety. If a teacher has a negative view of mathematics then their students will adopt this view. Students must be shown the relevance and purpose of mathematics in a real life and meaningful way. There is no doubt that mathematics is an indispensable tool for understanding our world. As we move through the twenty-first century no one can be clear on what mathematics will be needed, but it is clear that students will need to know how to reason mathematically and apply mathematical thinking to a wide range of situations (Reys, R. E., Lindquist, M. M., Lambdin, D. V., Smith, N. L., Rogers, A., Falle, J., Frid, S., Bennett, S. (2012). Helping Children Learn Mathematics (1st Australian ed.). Music, art/design, and even athletics are built on mathematics. A pianist can benefit from patterns and sequences when composing much the same way that a golfer can benefit from math-based physics, trigonometry, and even statistics when driving. No matter which avenue a student pursues, math will somehow be present. It is not only the responsibility of a nurse, an engineer, or a physicist to know mathematics. Rather, it is in each student’s best interest that they apply, or at least consider, mathematics in all areas of…

Mathematics is the basis of explanation of all phenomena taking place around us. I had immense love for Mathematics right from my high school years. Pythagoras, Fibonacci, Pascal were some of the laws that had made lasting impressions on my mind. I was mesmerized by the vast applications of mathematics ranging from physics, engineering like signal and image processing, communication, finance, astronomy and much more. As a young budding engineer, I always dreamt to contribute to the society in the most unconventional way. As my research suggested that the numerous applications of Mathematics are in the field of Science and Engineering, I enrolled for an undergraduate program in Electronics and Telecommunication at Mukesh Patel School of Technology and Management Engineering, NMIMS.…
