Personal Statement Of Purpose To Become A Physical Therapist
I believe the ESS courses and professors will prepare me for everything that will come after my undergraduate studies. This major will give me hands on experience and instruction that I will need for the rest of my career and onto graduate school. Compared to other majors at UGA, this major offers numerous resources such as internships, service based learning, and research techniques. My goal is to become a Physical Therapist and this degree will help me get one step closer to that goal.

I have chosen the career path to be a Physical Therapist. A Physical Therapist’s job is very detailed and extremely important to the patient’s well-being. Some of their duties include examining patients as they come in to physical therapy, gathering a plan that is going to get them back on their feet, helping them regain strength, ease their pain, and preventing their disabilities from progressing. Two pros of this career, for me, would be examining patient’s data in order to come up with a plan to meet their needs and being able to give medical information to a patient or their family members. Examining a patient is a pro because it’s solely how the patient is going to get treatment. It’s essential to the process because you can’t help the…

I wish to become an occupational therapist – a low-vision occupational therapist – first and foremost based on my personal experience with overcoming adversity associated with being visually impaired myself. When I was nine months old, I was involved in a car accident that left me legally blind in both eyes. Throughout my life I have continually faced challenges – both simple and more complex – and have found a way through most. I want to be able to help those who are going through very similar circumstances as I have, and be a part of the process that sees them gain independence throughout their daily lives. It can be difficult for a health care professional in any field to truly know what their client is feeling, seeing, thinking, wanting,…

Waking up in the middle of the night coughing and gasping for air occurred on a regular basis for me as a child. I slept with an inhaler and a nebulizer next to my bed in the event of the next attack. My asthma attacks were frightening for my parents and especially for me as I felt as if I was on the verge of death whenever I suddenly could not breathe. Although I was always in and out of emergency rooms and doctor visits at a young age, having tried everything from nebulizer treatments to bronchodilators, I was always comforted by the doctors and nurses who always took the time to explain and alleviate any concerns and anxiety I had. Seeing their devotion to their profession and for patient care has motivated me to pursue graduate study in the field of nursing to invest my future to coordinate and implement quality healthcare for others.…

My educational and career goals is to become a physical therapist. Since I completed my associate degree at Palm Beach State College and my plan right now would be to get my bachelor and master degree. My life experiences which have influenced me to make this decision are when my sister broke her left arm and when my mother used to have a serious foot pain. My sister broke her arm when she was playing at school ;she felt down on her left arm .When she got home, she did not said anything at all about what happened to her at school. Later, she started yelling that she felt pain in her left arm. At night, my family suspected that her skin on the left arm was swollen. My professional goal is to become a teacher with hard work and dedication I know I can reach my lifetime goal. For my extra-curricular activities, I have attended the Head Start at Brookhaven Community College where I have volunteered over thirty hours in a semester to get myself prepared for the profession. Going to the local Head Start gave me the opportunity to see if this is really what I want to do for many years. I put myself in a position where I actually enjoyed what I was doing, I had patience which a lot of people don’t have to teach younger kids. I worked with three to five years old, I had to show them I was the leader. In my four years of High School, I have taken my time out to be a leader in my school. I was vice-president freshman…

The ideal job that I'd prefer to have is to work as a physical therapy assistant (PTA) 24 hours, 7 days a week. My three main points are good benefits, good pay, and a career that I'd love. My preferred earnings potential is $18.00 an hour. I chose to go into this career because I'll be learning about how to eventually become a physical therapist and what they do every single day. I will need an associate's degree to become a Physical Therapy Asst. , and the length of a PTA program is 2 years of general education, PT, and clinical education.…

What if people lived healthier lives, practiced preventive medicine, and took precautions against illness and disease? My days in the physical therapy department often made me think about the prevention of injuries as well as the injuries themselves. I was already doubting my future career choice as a physical therapist. Although I loved the science of it and helping people, the lack of variety within the field and its limited options for growth bothered me. I needed a career that helped a large number of people, emphasized prevention and primary care rather than tertiary care, and would continually challenge and motivate me to improve. Knowing that I really did not want to pursue physical therapy as I had originally planned, my thoughts wandered to the area of public health, particularly health management.…

“Get off the couch and stop looking at a television screen” is what I tell my three younger siblings everyday. As the older brother, I take responsibility for my siblings’ health and well-being. Instead of playing sports, my siblings prefer staying indoors texting on their phones or playing video games. It concerns me that not only my siblings but also children and even adults nowadays are not motivated enough to get outside, exercise, or participate in physical activities. Coincidentally, pushing my ideals about health and exercise on my younger brothers and sister would eventually shape my career path in physical therapy. I prefer a career that requires being active and working with people on a daily basis than having a desk job and staring…
