Personal Statement: My First Year At Florida State University
During my first year at Florida State University I plan to grow as an individual. To achieve this is not only important to fill in your head with loads of knowledge, but also to see other cultures, meet new people, discover myself, discover my weaker and/or stronger points, and squeeze my stronger abilities at my maximum to achieve my goals. I plan to help others as much as I’ve been doing until now, or even more. I believe in creating a better atmosphere where peers help each other in whatever they need. I’ve been lucky spent almost sixteen years of my life in a school where they taught me to excel by working as a team. I plan to bring these philosophy to FSU because if instead of competing with one another, we bring what we are best at to

University of Miami, Florida State University, and Florida and Agricultural and Mechanical University are all outstanding colleges but the great Bethune-Cookman University caught my attention. Bethune had a great faculty and staff and the people were very friendly when I came to Daytona for orientation. Upon entering my freshman year of college I recognized I was not fully prepared for the rigorous academic scheme provided at my school, Howard University. One of the main observations was my peers received educational training in Advanced Placement General Chemistry, Advanced Placement Organic Chemistry and even had the opportunity to attend actual college courses during his/her high school careers. Those classes were not an option for me through my high school. Soon I found myself falling into a pit of failure. Long hours of studying and tutoring only produced D’s, F’s and an occasional C on my Chemistry reports. I was thoroughly ready to quit. I still remember sitting in my professor’s office in tears when he informed me that my academic…

Rutgers offers near anything a student could desire to study and pursue, and with Rutgers beside you, I certainly believe that ones possibilities are infinite. This is my second year at Cypress College, I am looking to major in Business Marketing. I attended two high schools during my 4-year education, Roosevelt High, and Bell Gardens High. My future goals involve graduating from a Cal State, getting a job, which I know will be much work but really looking forward to it. Overall, I am looking forward to taking this course and learning more about music, and you…

I started taking classes part-time at OSU my junior year of high school, and full-time my senior year. By the time I graduated high school, I took 40 credit hours of classes at OSU and had a 3.81 OSU GPA. Despite the tough coursework I found time to partake in numerous extracurricular activities. When I officially joined OSU as a freshman, I joined the small biomedical science major and biological sciences group. In these groups, I have not only helped my peers with their academics, but I have given them guidance on how to simultaneously manage both their academics and fitness pursuits.…

Ever since high school, I have struggled with school. After graduating high school, I graduated with a 1.7 GPA. I always knew I was an average student, so I accepted my GPA proudly. However after entering college, everything changed. I knew everything was going to be more difficult and demanding. Beyond all the hardships of academics, I was also going to have to pay for all of education by myself, because my parents could not afford it. This adversity made it extremely difficult for me to decide if I wanted to continue my education and enter college. However, despite my finical struggle I decide to continue my education and apply for college. I applied to Rockland Community College, where I wanted to work on increasing my GPA.…

My freshman year at Spelman wasn’t one for the books, it wasn’t the definition of #goals, it wasn’t full of memories, in fact it was probably one of the hardest years of my life. For as long as I can remember, I was always a well-known member of my school’s student body. I was the girl teachers requested, I made everything I ever tried out for, and in every leadership position in almost every club. I can confidently say high school was great and I thought college would be even better.…

The event that I choose to follow summer fest was a simple and casual visit to the wellness and recreational center, fancy way of saying the gym. Upon my first ever visit to Florida International University I still remember at our freshmen orientation entering the gym and thinking to myself this seems like a place that I will be visiting often during my four year tenure at school. And boy was I right, the facility was clean and professional looking very much like a professional gym would appear, the staff where all kind and ready to assist you if help was ever necessary, something that I truly valued. I was extremely exited to take a spinning class at the FIU gym, I had only ever heard positive reviews and I was looking forward to the experience as well. Personally I am obsessed with fitness so any class, or activity is something that I love to experience which is what drove me to experience the class myself, and did, I love it. When I got out of that class I was sweating so much, I felt like I had gone on a run around the world and it so amazing, the instructor knew exactly what she was doing and had no problem helping you out if you needed it, the music was fun and exiting extremely up tempo. Overall I can only rave about the experience, it was positive and motivational. It has truly inspired me to no matter how stressed I may be I can always go down to the gym and relieve my stress while gaining a benefit as well.…

From what I learned in my resiliency in high school up to this point is that at Florida State University, I will have to be tougher than I have ever been, because I will be on my own, no one will be there to tell me to do my assignments, to get to class on time, I am doing it for me and I’ll need to be able to pace myself. There will be times when I will feel overwhelmed with the classes I am taking while attending FS. I may also be distracted by everything else going on campus, such as parties, tailgates and other distractions that may stray me from my studies, But I will have to remain on task and remember what I’m at FSU for, to be a great scholar and earn my degree in computer sciences.…

Just as the AP course positively impacted me, with the assistance of the Woodford R. Porter Scholarship, I know I can have the same impact on the University of Louisville community. At the University of Louisville, I hope to earn my degree in chemical engineering. I do understand that this degree requires a lot of knowledge about mathematics. Because I was able to overcome difficult academic situations in high schools, I know I am better prepared to deal with these challenges in college. Furthermore, my experiences of struggling in my AP courses have helped me become more sympathetic to my peers. If I see one of my peers struggling, I will provide assistance to them because I know how hard it is to ask for help. By working with my peers, we can ultimately develop a friendship inside and outside the classroom. By developing these relationships, we can learn from one another. While I cannot change my peers’ perspectives about certain issues, I can introduce them to a new perspective, my perspective. By introducing my peers to my perspective, I have helped them become more self-aware as they can do the same for me. In essence, by attending the University of Louisville, I know I can uphold the University’s mission by improving my peers’ lives by sharing my own lived experiences in classrooms. By sharing my narrative and experiences, I know I will create a more diverse…

To be successful in college one needs to have a plan. My plan is to finish high school with an Academic Honors Diploma, go to a fantastic college, graduate with a bachelor’s degree in nursing, and find a job I love. Throughout college I would like to be in different clubs, softball, and possibly in a sorority. During high school I never got the chance to be in any clubs because during the fall and winter I was on the high school bowling team, and the spring I was on the high school softball team. Now that I am not going to be doing bowling for college I will have time to be in some clubs. I have been in softball since I was a little girl, and being able to play in college has always been a dream of mine. I do not know anyone in a sorority,…
