Personal Statement: My Experience As A Resident Assistant
On Nov. 9, 2015 it was about five minutes till 11:00 P.M. and the girls from D2 dorm were really loud. The girls upstairs were running through the halls, yelling, pounding, and also blasting their music really loud. I wanted to log a complaint with your office, due to the fact that the noise in the dorms is keeping me from getting the rest I need and sidetracking me from really taking advantage of my training. I wanted to alert you as well as my Resident Assistant’s as to what is occurring so that I can be able to get the rest I need, so that I can be rested for receiving the training I need to be prepared for the job. I would like to apply for Special Assistant. I work well with others, but am also self-motivated and can get things done without someone constantly reminding me what I need to do. I am the president of the Zero Waste club, and an honor student. I take pride in everything I do, and strive to go above and beyond what is expected from me. Working well with others along with good communication is a strong suit of mine. In soccer I am center defense (sweeper), so I have to tell the outside defenders who their mark is, and make sure the other team does not get past us. In tennis I play doubles, so I constantly communicating to the other player to make sure one of us has the ball, or to tell them that it is out so they do not have to work as hard.…

Sounds pretty similar to the agency I work for but it sounds like you had a lot more training then we did. Oddly, I was never asked or told to shadow anyone however, I did have a few nurses shadow me. I asked these nurses about it and they told me they weren’t getting paid for their time and I thought that was a little bizarre. I’m guessing that many agencies do not pay people for training after hearing your experience was similar to…

When the students were asked on a scale from one to ten, (one being that noise does not affect resident’s dorm life and ten being that the noise level is out of control), about how affective the noise levels are in the dorms while studying, sleeping, and quiet time; all of the resident’s answers ranged from seven to ten. A female resident was asked her comments on the noise in the dorms she stated, “The noise is very disrespectful, too loud anytime, day or night.” Another resident was asked the same survey question and replied, “The noise level is way too loud makes it impossible to focus on studies, we are mature adults, it is ridiculous that my hall mates cannot respect the rest of us on the hall.” When surveying male students that reside in the quads a student stated, “The noise levels in the quads are not as severe as the levels in the actual dorm building because they are set up where noise can travel farther due to the large amount of space in…

Their perseverance, ability to react efficiently and decisively in difficult situations are some of the many qualities that Yale highlights and solidifies in its programs. Furthermore, shadowing one of the physician assistants who graduated from the Yale program gave me a better insight on the rigorously, expectations, and preparations of Yale PA program.…
