Personal Statement: Helping Others And The Community
Helping others and the community has really been a passion for me. Serving as a youth leader at church, Key Club officer, and being in many community service clubs has developed this passion to a high extent. I have helped my local church every saturday and tuesday afternoons pick up food and distributing it to the needy. With community service clubs, I have worked with pop up eye doctors and help determine if people suffer from glaucoma which has been one of my favorite duties I have done because it gives you a real hands on experience and you actually make a change in people’s life in helping them receive treatment.Community wise, I helped paint a wall that was vandalised and clean up a very dirty neighborhood. To be able to succeed in everything is a goal most people have for themselves. With success comes happiness, comfortability, and a sense of accomplishment. This is my greatest goal in life, to be able to make something of myself; to become someone no one else could imagine me being. This kind of motivation and perseverance that I display is what I believe can make me an excellent candidate for the National Honors Society. I have always set outstanding goals for myself, putting the pressure on myself I needed to so that I would get the outcome I desired. This strength shows through my grades and the rigorous classes I take, as well as my growth in character. Not only do I excel in my perseverance, but I believe I am a strong leader here at Central Dauphin, someone who is not only helpful in the classroom, but also in the community.…

Volunteering has been one of the biggest joys in my life. I have enjoyed working on the Emerald Coast Mud Run, helping to collect food for Caring and Sharing, helping my mother work on the band uniforms for Niceville High School and C.W. Ruckel Middle School. I look forward to helping others in my family, community, church and school. Whether helping a young mother watch her children so that she is able to go grocery shopping by herself or helping my sister work on her singing. My career goal is to become a veterinarian so I can help animals have healthier lives.…

I grew up in a typical Mexican household in southwest Detroit, and it was not until recently when I became aware of what this meant. Being a Latino student in this country means I am not expected to make it far; it means the higher success I reach in academia, the lonelier I will become. “A Mexican boy, from a dirt-poor village, from Detroit, go to college? HA. Good luck with that.” These discriminatory ideas that society tries to implant in me only strengthen and encourage me to strive for greater success. I am proud to say that breaking stereotypes has become a hobby for me. I am at the top of my class, an active member of my community, have leadership positions in several organizations, I perform professionally in a cultural band, and I even compete in soccer year-round. While people of my background are consistently trapped at the bottom of the social hierarchy, I am proud of who I am and I would not change it for the world. My low socioeconomic status and the racial marginalization I suffer in this country has made me the vibrant young man I am today and formulated my long-term goal to rid my family from the shackles of…

n the world, there are so many people that do not have any shelter. I am very sad, when I see them adrift at the corners of the park or on the street. In my opinion, helping to homeless people can lessen their suffering. For example, when my father sees homeless people with grime clothes, he gives some clothes to them this work is admirable. This my father's good behavior remains a legacy for me and I try to help to homeless people like my…

Here are some examples of my service to my community. During my 8th grade year in Elena Christian Jr. High School, both my classmates and I, we decided to do a beach cleanup. We chose the beach across from Water Gut. It was a wonderful experience because I was able to help out my community in a positive way. I volunteer and participate with the Junior Meteorology Club of Elena L. Christian Junior High School. I help with certain fundraisers such as; bake sales, car washes and collecting donations. I like to be there for people who are in need because it shows people that I am a caring and loving person. I also volunteered at the Agriculture Fair of 2010. I was helping out the Virgin Islands Police Department booth, assisting the police cadets, police officers, lieutenants and as well as the commissioner. Both my mom and I, we donated funds for Haiti at the VIPD in Frederiksted.…

I live in an area that has many needs and is desperate for inspirational leaders. City Heights is generally a high crime neighborhood riddled with gangs, drugs, and general violence. A prominent leader in my community that I have had the privilege of working under is Dante Dauz. He works very close with the local authorities and gangs to mediate peace and works to bring resolutions. He is a supervisor of the Alliance for Community Empowerment, which offers a program called UPAC (Union of Pan Asian Communities). The single most important activity I have participated has been working as a leader in this program. . This is the most important activity since hundreds of people were helped, mainly homeless and refugees. Some of the ways in which they were helped was by providing them with food, warm clothing given with warm and consoling heart. Although this activity is…

I have always had a passion for helping people. When I was little I would try and help anyone around me, even when they didn’t necessarily need help. I have always felt joy in helping my mom cook or helping my dad in the barn. That’s why, I believe, I picked up showing. I felt that I was taking care of my animals and helping them grow and intern my animals helped me grow and develop important qualities. Showing, my second passion, taught me how to be dedicated to something and how to never give up. I believe that by growing in these qualities through showing it has helped me across the board with my other subjects and accomplishments. Volunteer service is another aspect in which I excel and wish to enculturate more in my life. A year ago, I went to Africa and visited villages and served those in need at an orphanage and school. I also became the representative for volunteer service my senior…
