Personal Statement: Better Parks
Better Parks, Better Future Parks are a great part of our society because they build healthy, stable relationships with the environment. They are used for a variety of things, including getting involved with physical activities and being the habitat for so many animals. However, parks often get cluttered by trash or their trails deteriorate, making them look unimpressive. That is why for my ecology action project I am going to volunteer at the local Big Morongo Canyon Preserve on September 30, 2017. I will pick up trash that has been neglected, clean up trails, and complete any other tasks required of me by the guides on September 30th. First, I need to get a waiver form and turn it in before September 29th. I will make sure I have the necessary equipment to complete the project; then I will have my parents drive me to the preserve on National Publics Land Day, September 30th. After I arrive at the preserve, on September 30th, I will verify what tasks are needed of me before I …show more content…
Seeing the natural beauty of the park will make me want to go on more hikes and see the environment more, which will make me closer to nature. I will also be able to know how to help the environment in the future when I am taking a walk or having fun outside. Then I can slowly start making the world a better, cleaner place. My health will improve by this activity because I am able to go outside and be active. Being active helps keep my heart and lungs healthy, while also strengthening my bones and muscles. Healthy living helps my brain release endorphins that give me a natural feeling of well-being. Going on trails and promoting a cleaner atmosphere will make me want to go on more hikes, leading to more activity in the future. By being active and helping the environment I can stay healthy, feel fit, and

To understand the present state of the nation’s parks, and ultimately their entire future, it is crucial to first look back at the past. The first national park was Yellowstone National Park. This sprawling park contains such amazing geological and biological sites that it had been considered a national park long before it was ever officially named one. Its combination of diverse wildlife, and geologic features such as, waterfalls, canyons, geysers, and hot springs made it obvious to any who had experienced it, that this was a place that should be preserved just the way it was. That was why in 1872, President Ulysses S. Grant made it officially the world’s first national park. The only problem being, it was a completely unique creation, the first of its kind. This means that all ground that they covered would be new.…

I've never been an "outdoors" experience kind of person. Maybe, it's because I'm very sedentary and prefer to stay inside to read and enjoy tranquility. I avoid all types of chaos and crowded places. Nevertheless, my visit to the Camuy River Cave Park (back in 2004) was refreshing and enriching in knowledge, historically, scientifically and spiritually. That experience brought the best out of me, as a human being and a nature lover, by giving the chance of experiencing a whole new level of peace and tranquility.…

We take for granted the fact that we are young and sometimes think that we will stay that way forever. Where I grew up, there were few hills. Although this was the case, with the encouragement from my mother, I learnt that exercise is always important and therefore I should always make that effort to do so. Though the area was mainly flat and populated, there wasn't a large degree of pollution especially on mornings it became the ideal time to push that exercising drive forward. As a young child, I took early morning power-walks with my mother as a form of exercise. The air we breathe plays an important role in how fit we become especially when exercise is done outdoors. This exercise revitalized me and fortified me to go on through the day.…
