Personal Statement: A Career In The Workplace
Pele once said, “Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice and most of all, love of what you are doing or learning to do.” To invent something, go to college, get a job, do well in school or sports, or be successful in any way, you must work hard to achieve whatever you have set your mind to. Nothing comes easy in life you either work for it or you don't get it, it could take an hour or it could take a year but in the end your hard work will pay off.
My sisters determination to achieve goals and go through life with accomplishments and certain expectations has made me realize I want to reach the same standards. Years in advance she has set goals and milestones of something she wants to accomplish down the road. As soon as she figures out something to work towards she starts working at getting there. Some years ago, she decided that she wanted to be an arabic translator for the navy. So, she put years of work and dedication into reaching

Whenever she is working towards something she always goes the extra mile to get the job done and move forward. As mentioned in paragraph 2, my sister has joined the navy as a translator. She put many hours and years of work into reaching the point in which she is now. Her job takes many hours of learning and studying the languages and is a difficult profession. The work of a an interpreter is a slow and time consuming with many obstacles in the road to success. When something needs taking care of, she is on it like that. Working in this field takes a lot of hard work, determination, and discipline all of which she expresses. Observing and realizing how much work it takes to make important and optional things in life happen makes me understand that if I want to be successful like her when i grow up I'll need to work just as hard for it. Long term life goals take lots of work to get to reachit, and if you don't work for it, it won’t

After Graduate School, I hope to have my PhD in psychology or my doctorate in psychiatry. I would like to start out working in jails, talking to criminals and analyzing their brains versus the brain of an average adult to study how the brain reacts with criminal activity and why they do and feel what they do. I have heard that a person can not do that type of work for very long because it is emotionally tasking so after that, I would like to open my own counseling practice up. I would do either marriage and family therapy or focus on teenage depression. Eventually, I would like to retire into school psychology or become a psychology teacher. Also, if I ever have enough money, I will buy a house devoted to taking in stray animals…

The career that I have literally chosen is the automotive service technician and mechanics career. The reason why I chose this career it’s because… Well actually I have plenty and many reasons to choose from because I am very passionate about this career and I have lived through it my entire life. One reason is that Auto Mechanics is because to me it’s an interesting field to me. I decided to explore the topic a little more to get a better understanding of what it would take to become a successful automotive technician . I have lived through the auto mechanics field pretty much all through my life. Well actually since I have been born. The reason of this is very simple. That is because my very own dad is an auto mechanic himself. Well actually to be more exact, he owns his own auto mechanic shop. Since I was little I have always helped him at his work because I have always enjoyed working with vehicles. Since the very first day that I started working with him I already knew that the automotive field was the job for me. Since I was a baby my very own parents use to tell me that I would disappear out of their sight. And when they used to find me I used to be playing with the tools besides my dad helping him out. I have pretty much made my mind up about actually going further in this career. Not only because I actually enjoy doing that job but also because of the pay check that you receive. Well actually that is a bonus in it. It does matter to me the money that you earn in it but not as much as I like doing the activity of interacting and working with automobiles. I have faith in me that one day I am not only going to fix cars, but I am also going to own my own shop myself.…

My professional goal is to become a teacher with hard work and dedication I know I can reach my lifetime goal. For my extra-curricular activities, I have attended the Head Start at Brookhaven Community College where I have volunteered over thirty hours in a semester to get myself prepared for the profession. Going to the local Head Start gave me the opportunity to see if this is really what I want to do for many years. I put myself in a position where I actually enjoyed what I was doing, I had patience which a lot of people don’t have to teach younger kids. I worked with three to five years old, I had to show them I was the leader. In my four years of High School, I have taken my time out to be a leader in my school. I was vice-president freshman…

In 5th grade, I started my own little business. I would go to school and sell Mardi Gras beads I got from my family. I sold the beads for twenty-five cents to my peers and teachers and fifty cents to strangers. I only sold for a week, but that week I would go home with between five to seven dollars each day. I did not have a reason for wanting to sell the beads, in particular, I just wanted to make money and save all the money I earned. That same "want" has driven me throughout my life. In middle school, my dad and uncle started a business running a food truck. Because I was too young and was in school, I only worked with them during the summer. There I learned how to handle money, provide great customer service, and how to market and advertise.…

As a child I loved playing dress up, I loved going to Tea Parties, and I loved playing with Legos. When I was little I found no problem with doing science experiments on my Barbie’s, or having princesses play Legos; however, as I entered kindergarten and first grade I found those two worlds weren’t supposed to coexist. Girls were supposed to play with girls toys, and boys were to play with boy toys. I decided, that was best and gave up my Lego set to the boy next door and focused on doing girl things. Next came second and third grade, where teachers begin to ask, “What do you want to be when you grow up”? Boys say things like: a military member, a lawyer, an engineer, a fireman, a scientist, a cop, and the list goes on and on. Whereas girls are kept more in a box with only certain professions being traditionally appropriate. I decided, that was correct and that I would be a science teacher so I could still be a part of the scientific world I so thoroughly enjoyed, yet still be traditionally…
