Personal Statement: A Career In Early Childhood Education
Once I graduate and secure a job as an early childhood educator, I vow to be the best possible teacher I can be. I know how important the early years of education are, as they set the foundation for future academic success. I will not have one “philosophy” or “method” that I go by because each child is different and so I will flex my teaching styles when needed to suit the student. In addition to becoming an early education teacher, I intend to become a certified dyslexia specialist and offer my resources to the school. My vision includes identifying children who are showing characteristics of dyslexia so they can begin receiving support early and serving as a resource for parents. Waiting to fail is not acceptable and I plan on intervening

    The BDA Dyslexia Friendly Schools Pack for Teachers (2009) provides an overall guide of what dyslexia is and how a dyslexia friendly school should be delivering education to the dyslexic learner.
