Having majored in Psychology and minored in sociology in the university, I became particularly interested with issues regarding Health Promotion after taking courses such as Community Psychology, Human Growth and Development and the like. As a young aspiring health professional I would like to pursue this course, since my ultimate desire is to work with health and human care issues in Ghana.
Working at the Emmanuel Clinic in my community as a voluntary Public Health Educator has further boosted my interest in the MSc Public Health-Health Promotion. In that organizing health seminar for schools in my community on issues such as malaria, hand washing, eating disorders and the like with the aim of promoting healthy life styles among the younger generation has motivated me enough to pursue this course (MSc Public Health-Health Promotion)
The modules of this Masters programme will be of particular relevance to my career plans which is to work within the health services as health promotion specialist or public health consultant. In that modules such as Health Communication, People, Power and Communities and Policy for Health in the Twenty First Century will be very helpful in analyzing and hence solving some of the problems related to Public Health in Ghana.
I strongly believe the structure of this programme would add specialized competency to my chosen carrier and further give me the vision, knowledge and tools to help improve the wellbeing of the people in my home country. The MSc Public Health- Health Promotion would indeed be a precious experience both in terms of academics and professional career. I hope I will be given the opportunity to pursue this ambition.

Through educational development, interacting with health professionals, joining a community of other like-minded individuals that genuinely care about the health of UCSD students, and most importantly, through hands-on exposure in a real world setting, this program grants me an invaluable experience that will better prepare me to join the public health work force after completing my undergraduate degree.…

At the University of Ghana there are reports that rooms originally built to take two students, are now officially allocated to five students (after minor modifications), but unofficially occupied by as many as eight or nine – to the knowledge of the university authorities! Apart from the obvious hygiene and health hazards posed, what kind of ambience does this provide for study after classes? All of which have brought most African universities to a state of serious deterioration. This is evident not only to those who work or study in those universities but to even the most casual visitor. – (Association of African Universities, 2004)…
