My interest in computer science dates back to my years in high school. Because of this interest and curiosity to learn more about this field compelled me to choose Computer Science for undergraduate studies and also to pursue further studies and exploration of this field.
Having a solid academic foundation resulted in impressive academic performance with me being among the top 2 students of class throughout my studies. I completed my Higher Secondary Education with Computer Science subjects from Government Degree College (GDC) Sheikhupura with 2nd position in class, and secured admission in the globally recognized University of Pakistan, University of the Punjab (PU). At PU my academic records were as impressive as ever. I attained 2nd position in class with a CGPA of 3.67 and and secured HEC scholarship for consecutive 3 years. Strong conceptual basis and its application ensured my consistent outstanding results in theoretical and practical aspects of my field alike.

During undergraduate studies, I worked on many projects using the latest tools, technologies and concepts of Computer Science. I used all major languages (Java, C#, C++) and DBMS (SQL Server 2008, Oracle 9i, MySQL) to develop different term projects (Online University Finder, Social Media Site, Phonebook, School and Hostel management systems). I developed my final year project using ASP.Net MVC 2.0, .Net Framework 4.0, C#, LINQ, jQuery and MS SQL Server 2008 technologies.

My final year project was Agile Project Management Tool (APMT), a product for the automation of Scrum (an Agile methodology). It is a highly customizable and comprehensive tool which covers all aspects of Scrum methodology which includes Maintaining the Project Backlog, Creating Sprints, Creating Sprint Backlog, Conducting Daily Scrum Meeting and Burn down Chart.

The interest in Computer Science and its practical applications was not only limited to the course work, as I actively participated in various coding, quiz,

For as long as I can remember, I was interested in math and science. Math comes naturally to me—I enjoy the consistency that goes with it and completing each challenging problem. Similarly, I can never get enough of science, especially marine biology. Of all my subjects, science is the one I pursue most frequently outside of school; however, I always wanted something more. I was introduced to programming in my AP computer science class, and from the first day, I knew it was for me. Computer science is an excellent amalgamation of the math and science I love, embedded with the perfect amount of logic. I have enjoyed every second of my computer science class and, no matter what, hope to continue the field in the future.…

When I was eleven years old I was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder. I had a hard time coping with the changes in my mood. Part of my healing process consisted of trying many different medications, therapies, and developing the desire to heal. During this time, friends I had for many years pushed me away, and although I felt alone and confused at times, I came out thriving. Bipolar Disorder is a mood disorder thought to be caused by chemical imbalances in the brain that can result in extreme swings in mood—from manic highs to depressive lows. To be diagnosed with bipolar disorder, you must have experienced a high period (mania). Bipolar mania is described as an “extreme high,” or feeling unusually great. Most people with bipolar disorder when ill or when symptomatic experience more lows than highs. Unfortunately, the lows I experienced were so extreme that the friends I thought would be by my side through anything chose to follow other kids and use my disorder to bully me creating deeper depression. Initially, I felt stigmatized by my diagnosis. Most people I encountered either didn’t know what bipolar was or how to interact with someone suffering with the disorder. Teachers, peers, and family members had a hard time knowing what to say or how to act around me. I started to feel like I was no longer my own person but just one big disaster and my mood swings became even more extreme as a result. Eventually, I grew tired of feeling sorry for myself and began my quest for the right medication, vitamins, nutrition, psychological and spiritual health and wellbeing. I found my inner strength and courage. I put my energy into school, new friendships and family and started…

A friend recently told me “Don’t let the things you can’t control, control you”. I realized how much this small piece of advice relates to my life as an African American woman. I can’t control the fact that I don’t live with- or even know- my father. I can’t control how society perceives people of color. But I control what I do. I have discovered that I embody the ability to beat the odds given to a black, fatherless girl. I can be who I want to be with hard work and determination.…

Right from my childhood I had a strong inclination to be a Computer Science Engineer or Programmer. My interest in the subject has grown with each passing year and it has reached where even PhD will not quench my thirst for knowledge. I have come to terms with the fact that there is an enormous proportion of subject to be assimilated. I want to take up a research oriented course for my career. A natural aptitude for mathematics, a sense of logic, analytical ability, capacity for diligent work and high academic credentials secured me a place in THAMAR University. The four years curriculum exposed me to the entire gamut of computer courses thus laying a strong foundation for both my Hardware and Software fundamentals. My main areas of interest were Computer Graphics and Multimedia. I enjoyed the course in Networks (e.g Cisco CCNA and Microsoft SCCM 2007). My interest in Graphics and Database also. My final year project was Interactive Web Pages on Server (IWPS). The project was completed in a period of 6 months using ASP.NET as front End and Visual Studio as the back End. Through the Al-JOUF University at my Work I took up a position as ‘Team Leader’ in Software Dept . This helped me learn about the application of IT within a Team. I found that as one of the more competitive members of our team, I was committed to our success and as a result I took on a lot of the responsibilities of running the University. From this I have a better understanding of the objectives of Team Work. The importance of time management, prioritization, delegation, team working and motivating others.…

I can still recall my entry to the world of engineering. Those days were fun-filled as the technical festival of our college was on. Being an amateur then, I was thrilled to see students maneuver powerful robots and stare at the computer screens for various programming events. Even glowing of an L.E.D. or the correct output of a trivial program would fascinate me. Three enriching years have flown by quickly. However, the zeal never sagged and continued to hike. Now, as I sit down to evaluate my future goals, I recollect one of my professors’ words-‘Engineering is an ocean of courses and the undergraduate study just introduces them to us’. Reflecting upon that thought, I am more than convinced that I want to pursue my Masters in computer science.…
