personal responsibility
_______________________________Personal Responsibility___________________________

My parents have set certain standards for my brothers and I. We have managed to learn and answer to those standards. We will always to what is right and fight wrongs and be the best we can possibly be. I have had friends over the years who were not taught the same morals, ethics or personal responsibility. You can see a big difference between those of us who were taught to respect the personal responsibilities and those who did not. Being held accountable for your actions help you maintain highly respected personal responsibilities. Last Saturday I showed up to Fire Academy without shaving. I received consequences for not shaving. It was my personal responsibility to shave. I was being lazy and I now have to own up to my responsibility.

Personal responsibility is the obligation or willingness to accept the things needed to be done on a daily basis. When your actions are not complete, we need to be held accounhtable for those actions. Personal responsibility is an obligation to oneself. It is your individual duty to ensure your good character and behavior regardless of how you were brought up and what kind of conditioning you have received. Right versus wrong. Individual responsibility also includes being accountable for the degree and level of your health, wealth, success and happiness. It means putting a stop to blaming others and admitting and accepting that you are responsible for yourn own Personal responsibilities and this applies to everybody. Personal responsibility is huge in the fire department and in life as well.

You must accept personal responsibility for the mess and disorder that you have created in your life. Life always gives you the consequences related to your actions. Lack of personal responsibility will create problems, which will lead to those consequences, therefore, make good choices to begin with. Consequences are nothing

Personal responsibility is the key to personal, professional and academic success because it cannot be achieved by anyone else. We cannot decide which obstacles life will through our way, only how we respond to those obstacles. It is these choices in response to such obstacles that shape our lives and determine our ability to succeed. For that reason we must think carefully before deciding on a course of action. One should consider a course that is in line with their personal, academic, and professional goals in order to keep on track. It is my opinion that we each decide what we make out of our lives. Either we choose to use each obstacle as an excuse for failure or we can choose to accept personal responsibility, take appropriate action, and live a better life.…

Responsibility is something that exists in the lives of everyone. On a daily basis we are required to satisfy some form of personal responsibility. If I had to define the word personal responsibility I would define it as consistently following through with what needs to be done and establishing a level of self-discipline and trust. The dictionary states the definition of responsibility as the state, quality or fact of being responsible; a duty, obligation or burden. There are many levels of responsibility: financial responsibility, economic responsibility, professional responsibility, and so on.…

If you don’t learn accountability I’m pretty sure you won’t be able to take responsibility for your actions. Accountability is normally viewed as being responsible, giving an explanation of your actions, to somebody for something. When you take 100 percent responsibility for holding yourself accountable, your performance will improve, your relationships will flourish, your value will soar, people’s respect for you will skyrocket, you will be a great example for others to follow, and your self-esteem will grow. You cannot achieve any professional or personal worthwhile goal if you don’t hold yourself accountable.…

Personal responsibility is to have respect for themself and others around us. Responsibilities are where we take care of what needs done. Either in our personal lives, work, and in school. We as adults are responsible to take care of what needs done for each task that we take on for that day. If we are not responsible for what we do, we will not get what needs accomplished for that day. Responsible also means that we take account for our actions, no matter how big or how small the problem may be, and facing the consequences, results, and the outcome that your actions create. When people hear the word “responsibility,” they do not truly realize that it is easier than they think, and it comes naturally. “The power behind taking responsibility for your actions lies in putting an end to negative thought patterns. You no longer dwell on what went wrong or focus on whom you are going to blame. You don't waste time building roadblocks to your success. Instead, you are set free and can now focus on succeeding.” ― Lorii Myers…

What does personal responsibility mean? To me personal responsibility means that I am responsible for what I choose in life. I have to hold myself accountable and cannot blame others for the choices I make. Jake Lawson wrote on the Livestrong.com website, “Accepting personal responsibility includes but is not limited to: acknowledging that you are solely responsible for the choices in your life and accepting that you are responsible for what you choose to feel or think” (Lawson, 2011). That statement is very profound and powerful. It is easy to place the blame on others but all that really does is hold us back from finding our true potential. We cannot use scapegoats to hide the fact that we possibly make bad decisions in life. Whichever direction my life heads, I am the captain of this ship and I cannot let others control what I do. I have control over my emotional responses to outside interference and must live with the consequences of my actions. In the Pacific Philosophical Quarterly 89 (Issue 4), 497-515, Dana Klein wrote ‘people are responsible when they act with the ability to do the right thing for the right reasons, or a good thing for good reasons.’(Klein, pg. 497) What exactly does that mean? It means that if we choose not to do the right thing or make bad decisions, they have not shown personal responsibility. I have to be willing to improve myself professionally, academically and personally in life. I can never be complacent or else I will never accomplish more and…

Personal responsibility is an essential element in every aspect of one’s life. What exactly does personal responsibility mean; the answer is most likely different for everyone. Chuck Gallozzi may have summed it up best when he stated, “Responsibility is not a burden, it is a blessing” (Gallozzi, 2009, title page). Those nine simple words speak volumes in that taking responsibility or holding oneself accountable, answerable, for their actions or inactions, accepting the consequences that result from those actions or inactions and most important, understanding the effect one has on family, friends, loved ones, coworkers, and classmates. Gallozzi went on to say, “No, we are not responsible for all that happens to us, but we are responsible for how we think, feel and act when they happen” (Gallozzi, 2009, Para 1).…
