Personal Responsibility Personal responsibility is a part of everyday life. Personal responsibility comes from your moral compass and how well you think things through. Personal responsibility also goes hand-in-hand with how big of an effort you put forth as a child to do the things your parents and teachers asked of you. People should show personal responsibility in every choice they make and every action they take. If they do not think things through as one should; life can be very hard, and one can end-up some place one does not want to be, like jail for instance. Those that have a conscience and accept personal responsibility usually have the jobs, children, nice car, nice house, and a good education. Without good strong core values one has nothing. People need standards and goals set before them to help them strive for a better future. Personal responsibility also shows that they are trying to build good character and morals. Without good character and morals they would be deadbeats expecting the government or someone else to pay their way, like so much of the world today. “Statics show in 2013 alone the federal government spent 391.6 billion dollars in Welfare.” This is not the kind of example we should be setting for the future president, congressman, or house representative. They do not need to be showed they do not have to work for what they have. They also do not need someone feeling sorry for and just hand it to them. Children should be taught that things are not just handed to them; they have to work for them. They have to set goals and strive to reach them. Children should know they do not have to be another statistic. With that personal responsibility comes into play. The most important reason everyone should show personal responsibility in every choice they make and action they take is that personal responsibility shows they pay attention to what they are doing to others and his or her country. Personal responsibility also shows their children how to be more productive members of society. Personal responsibility teaches them how to gain success and be a good example for someone else. They can give back to communities just as we have. They can teach someone else to give back as well. Personal Responsibility is taught because it is not inborn. It can be learned, and it can be learned at any time in life. Personal responsibility is also built off a foundation of education. With it being learned at an early age a community can function better because of those who are guided by personal responsibility. Those that are not responsible or do not care to take responsibility make it that much harder for the rest of the community. People also show personal responsibility when keeping up with their finances. They have to pay their bills on time to show responsibility. Unfortunately most American’s are drowning in credit card debit. If the credit card industry were to collapse America would be faced with a depression the likes of which we have never seen before. In conclusion, although there is no argument against personal responsibility as it is a part of life as a child and as an adult; everyone should show personal responsibility in every choice they make and action they take, for two main reasons. First, personal responsibility shows they pay attention to what they are doing to and for others, but most important personal responsibility shows that they are trying to build good character and morals. Without character and morals they have nothing. Character defines what kind of person they are, and they get good character by showing good personal responsibility. References

Personal responsibility is an essential element in every aspect of one’s life. What exactly does personal responsibility mean; the answer is most likely different for everyone. Chuck Gallozzi may have summed it up best when he stated, “Responsibility is not a burden, it is a blessing” (Gallozzi, 2009, title page). Those nine simple words speak volumes in that taking responsibility or holding oneself accountable, answerable, for their actions or inactions, accepting the consequences that result from those actions or inactions and most important, understanding the effect one has on family, friends, loved ones, coworkers, and classmates. Gallozzi went on to say, “No, we are not responsible for all that happens to us, but we are responsible for how we think, feel and act when they happen” (Gallozzi, 2009, Para 1).…

When we think of our families, we think of our own children, if we have them. As responsible parents, we need to make certain that they are fed, schooled, healthy, and happy. To maintain our children and these needs, we must have the personal responsibility to tend to these needs. Without personal responsibility, our children would either have to fend for themselves or someone would have to step in and take that responsibility. Most of us do not have any issues taking care of our children because we love them and are obligated by this love.…

My definition of personal responsibility is the act of taking charge of your own actions and living with the results. Personal Responsibility is putting fear, shame, and struggles aside and doing what you have to do to accomplish your goals. Personal responsibility is the willingness to both accept the importance of standards that society establishes for the individual behavior and to make strenuous personal efforts to live by those standards. Author Haskins (2009) stated, “But personal responsibility also means that when individuals fail to meet expected standards, they do not look around for some factor outside themselves to blame” (para.1). When you thing about it being an American you have the huge responsibility to your country. Obeying the laws of the land like taking care of Mother Nature by not littering or polluting are just some examples. There are other lawful responsibilities as American citizens that we have to abide like “no drinking and driving”. The way society is today most young generations just don’t care about their responsibility and just want to do their own thing. As parents it is our responsibility to raise our kids to follow the right path of life but in reality they need to learn the hard way. They will fall once or twice but they can always get back up. “The demise of personal responsibility occurs when individuals blame their family, peers, economic circumstances, or their society for their own failure to meet standards” (Haskins, 2009, Sequence of personal responsibility, para.1). Those are life lessons that are taught through making good and bad decisions. With great responsibility comes life changing results.…

After listening to options and passing them through personal ethical filters, the idea of responsibility and accountability play a large part in my decision making process. The largest impediment to utilizing this value in a decision-making process is the past performance of individuals involved. In life, we cannot rely on other people to do things for us. It is so easy to blame the people around us when things go wrong, but ultimately it is up to me to determine whether or not I will succeed in life. Everyone has goals in life, but the only way to achieve them is to be realistic and set goals for themselves. Responsibility is more than just thinking or wanting to do something; it is about the actions that go along with those intentions. I love this quote from…

Personal responsibility is to have respect for themself and others around us. Responsibilities are where we take care of what needs done. Either in our personal lives, work, and in school. We as adults are responsible to take care of what needs done for each task that we take on for that day. If we are not responsible for what we do, we will not get what needs accomplished for that day. Responsible also means that we take account for our actions, no matter how big or how small the problem may be, and facing the consequences, results, and the outcome that your actions create. When people hear the word “responsibility,” they do not truly realize that it is easier than they think, and it comes naturally. “The power behind taking responsibility for your actions lies in putting an end to negative thought patterns. You no longer dwell on what went wrong or focus on whom you are going to blame. You don't waste time building roadblocks to your success. Instead, you are set free and can now focus on succeeding.” ― Lorii Myers…
