Motivation is what plays a huge part in my learning process. I’ve been in a position all too many times where I’ve struggled immensely because my motivation was almost non-existent. This was mainly as a result of my lack of self-motivation. I overcome this by Identifying a way I like to learn best that made me feel at ease and able to get on with things. ‘’ The acronym VARK stands for Visual, Aural, Read/write, and Kinaesthetic sensory modalities that are used for learning information’’ I discovered I learnt best by Auditory. My reasons for this being is that I feel I excel when lectured and partake in group discussions and when using mobile phones, speaking, web-chat and talking things through. Another thing that plays a large part in my motivation is listening to music whilst doing independent studying.…

The abilities an individual possesses are an accumulation of their previous life experiences and the various competences which have been practiced for many years. Often times, these skills are overlooked and taken for granted as we never actually think about them in terms of their effect on our potential career choices. After thinking about my personal skills, I compiled a list which included; communication, cooperation, patience, listening, helping others and perseverance; all skills which I have possessed for majority of my lifetime and have used to overcome many challenges. One example in particular which required me to draw on many of these skills, was fairly recently; I am a dance instructor for children ages four to seven and there was a young boy who joined the class later than the rest of the students. I noticed that he was struggling…

Learning at first was a competition to my family until I realized it meant everything to who I am today. When first attending school, I was practically forced to learn the alphabet, numbers, and simple math problems that gave me the starting point in knowledge. The entire experience was so shocking and life-changing during the time that I started to perceive almost everything differently. I remember the moment when my Kindergarten teacher began to read a short story and it eventually made me process the story differently than before. I then performed abilities I never thought I could accomplish like whistling and it made me feel like I was on top of the world. Now since I have been writing more I look at it positively because if I did not make those mistakes and learned from them I would still be making mistakes. Lastly, I never took advantage of the resources around me before. Therefore, my goals for…
