Say Something - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VVgixOjGhVU Music serves as an escape route for people when dealing with daily problems, big or small. Music can also be a way people communicate. When there are no words to say, music helps express feelings. There’s always a song that a person can relate to. Each song has a distinct message to it that differentiates it from others. The lyrics of a song are what allow the listener to make a connection with the artist and song. What does music mean to you? Has music helped you through a difficult situation? Everybody handles things in different ways. In my life, music has always served two purposes: it keeps me busy while working on either homework or any task and it allows me to let go of feelings I have been harboring. Music is separated into different genres, based on the unique composition, style, and content. The song I have picked that relates to Aristotle’s three appeals, logos, pathos, and ethos, is “Say Something” by A Great Big World. This song has been close to my heart recently due to a breakup I have experienced. The message of “Say Something” is evident through the lyrics. Say something I’m giving up on you I’m sorry that I couldn’t get to you Anywhere I would’ve followed you Say something I’m giving up on you
The message throughout the song is saying that although you may love someone, that doesn’t guarantee the relationship will last. You can love someone deeply and truly care about him or her, but understand that it may be time to move on. Have you ever wanted something so much but you knew it wasn’t going to happen? The thing that helps me is knowing that I’m living for God, and I have to trust in His plan for me. It’s hard giving up on something you want so badly. Even though you may know that its time to say goodbye, actually saying the words is the hardest part. As humans, we want what we can’t have. When we want something so badly, it’s hard to let go. Being with someone for so

Dick Clark once said, ¨Music is the soundtrack of your life.¨ Music is one of the most powerful and influential things in my life. Without the melodies and harmonies of music, my life would feel bland and meaningless. I have a very busy schedule and sometimes it is too easy to lose meaning in my everyday tasks, but with music I am able to keep meaning in my life. I use music to get me through the activities of my everyday life. Whether it is cleaning my room, doing homework, or just relaxing, music makes everything better. I think that music can convey feelings and emotions extraordinarily well. When words cannot do the job, music can. Along with that, I think that music accompanies memories very well also. Going back to Dick Clark’s quote, I think I would be able to make a timeline of my life just using song titles, albums, and…

Music is a key factor in my life, now and has been for as long as I remember. Music is one thing that can control my mood and emotions unlike any other. The sounds and melodies of the composition have the potential to sway my moods from a dark gloomy state all the way to a joyous and soothing harmonic atmosphere. Music allows me to control how and what I want to be, or represent. Music is almost like picking out a favorite outfit. When one picks out an outfit to wear they most likely pick an outfit that expresses them and how they are feeling at that direct moment. They have the ability to change shoes, accessories, or their hairstyle to make it appealing to their particular desires, just as one has the will to change a song on their ipod, or flip the channel on a local radio station. Recently, my life has been undergoing many changes. I am now starting to apply myself in a way that allows me to develop my potential and show forth the results as an outcome of the pursuance of fulfilling my aspirations. More than ever now I am starting to realize that “you get out of life what you put in”. Life is dependent only on “what you bring to the table”. If one tends to put in minimal effort then one should not expect to experience a great aftermath. I have chosen three songs that apply to my life right now in the stance that I am currently in. Its ironic that all of these songs are from different genres, songwriters, and generations but, they somehow tie into my life perfectly. The main theme of the “soundtrack of my life” is “overcoming obstacles and changing that are essential to the growth and the perseverance of an individual”.…
