A network is a group of people who exchange information and contacts for professional or social purposes. To broaden our knowledge and improve our chances of having a better life, we engage in a system that can help us or connect us to people or things that will or can help us realise our goals.
That system is a personal network. It starts with defining what your goal is then from there, you start looking for peripherals or perspectives that can connect you or move you towards that goal. These may include, Family/ kinship, Friends, school, colleagues, neighborhood, people you know, people you interact with for advice or affiliations. Since I have worked in the leisure industry before, dealing with people who have an idea about the system not only grows my ambition but also gives me knowledge which can help me during my study and when that time comes to start my own brand.
I am always in touch with a vast number of people in my network, (some are relatives) that explains why but I also share knowledge with very many of my network contacts all over the world.
My personal network is diverse and growing. Most of them are also new. So together we seek knowledge and help where needed. In most cases, we help each other in many developmental issues.
Importance of intercultural communication in my personal network.
1. Eliminates cultural barriers
Being a person who has lived in different places, my personal network is diverse. In such a diverse setting, Intercultural communication is important in breaking down cultural barriers and building awareness of cultural norms. It has also helped me in enhancing self-awareness hence adapting my skill set to meet the intercultural collaboration needs.
