Personal Narrative: What It Takes To Be A Hero
What it Takes to be a Hero
Hello, My Name is Tammy Le. and today I will be telling you what it takes to be a hero. A hero doesn’t have to be someone from a cartoon, a comic or a movie. Anyone can be a hero, including me. What does it take to be a hero? Being a hero takes a lot of courage, intelligence, and a selfless attitude.

A hero is unselfish, cares about others, and are idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities. What makes Superman a hero is not that he has power, but that he has the wisdom and the maturity to use his power wisely.

When you act with courage, that means the ability to do something that frightens someone else. Rosa Parks acted with courage when she refused to give up her seat. She

My Dad always tells me to work hard and do good in school, because when he was young, he never went to school. I appreciate everything my parents do for me and what they risk for me.

Every night, when my dad comes home from work, me and my brother always ask him 3 questions, how was work, how was your day, and how much money did you make, dad? He would always say how much he made and say that it was enough to buy us food and any supplies that we needed. When my dad was young, his hero was his mom because she was a widow mother who worked really hard to take care of my dad and his two brothers and sister. She had risked everything for her children just like my parents.

Heroes are also very selfless. Firefighters, soldiers, and policemen are just a few examples. There’s plenty of other examples of heroism. A selfless act doesn't have to be heroic, though. A shopper at a store who sees an elderly shopper assists them, or even just lets them in front of them at the checkout, could be seen as committing a selfless act. Holding the door for people going in and out of public buildings could very well be called a selfless act, seeing as it is nearly always a thankless gesture.

Therefore, I think that anyone can be a hero, Me, you, anyone! Thank

Another reason my dad is my role model is because he is supportive. I say that because I can talk to him and he won’t judge. Also if I am over dramatic and felling down he will tell me everything is going to be fine and not to worry. My dad is the person I can always lean to. He also tells me to dream big because anything is possible.…

What makes someone a hero? Is it their ability to put others first? Is it their bravery? I believe a hero to me is someone who goes above and beyond or isn’t satisfied with being average. A hero is someone who puts their own life at risk in order to save someone else. A hero is also someone who knows what matters in life and doesn’t let that slip through their fingers. A hero is someone who is determined to do the right thing and make sure others are doing the right thing. The hero in my life is my dad. He’s a hero because he’s courageous, determined, and always puts his family first.…

Performing charity work is a key feature a true hero should possess. One may say, “Superheroes save the lives of an entire city. This is what makes someone a true hero.” This is true for some fictional character in a comic book, but what about real life people who cannot fly or have super strength? To be a true hero to others one should perform as much charity work throughout their lifetime, as much as they can. For example, donating food and clothing is one way of saving the lives starving people who are too poor to purchase food. Those who are poor may not be able to afford a home as well. Volunteering ones’ free time to go build a home with Habitat for Humanity is also part of charity work one could perform. Someone may define a hero as some personnel who risk their own lives to help strangers. Conducting any type of charity work makes someone a hero because…

First of all, I thank my father for showing me what a hardworking man truly is. He always had a job, sometimes two, but they never took any quality time away from spending with me. My father always made me remember that any man can help make a baby, but a real man helps raise the baby. My father was always there to help raise me. I remember when I told him that he was going to be a grandfather, he reminded me that anyone could make a baby, raising one was a different story. When my mother got a raise at her job and had to work more hours, my father took a different job so he could spend more time at home with me. Most men would rather work and have the mother at home to raise the kids. My father was different; he wanted everyone to be happy. My mother was happy working at her job. I was happy to be around my father more, and he was happy that he could raise me to be a responsible man.…

As the youngest girl in my family, I always considered myself to be “Daddy's little girl.” Growing up it always made me sad to see so many of my friends and neighbors without a father or father-like figure around. This helped me appreciate how my father always takes an interest in his children's lives. To this day, he still professes how proud he is of me and my siblings, and is still there to support us in whatever we are involved in. In every aspect of my life my father continuously pushes me to excel. Whenever I feel like giving up, or have a question or a concern, I know I can always call on him for advice. From him I have also learned that sometimes you have to put others needs ahead of your own, but not to the point they will begin to take advantage of you. His strength seems to be unbreakable during hard times, and is extremely determined to accomplish anything he sets his mind on. I hold great esteem for how he stands up for what he believes in, and will never back down. I have always admired his open mind, compassion, and sense of understanding. He is a very reserved man, but has a great sense of humor, and always knows how to put a smile on my face.…

My dad is a big part of my life. He has always been there for me, pushing me to do my best even if I could get by without trying. As a child, my dad forced my sister and I to read books during the summer and then write a report on the book we read. This is the reason I also have a hobby of reading. He also made us wake up super early in the morning to go on a bike ride, or a run, or something like that. My dad and I have a very close relationship and I know I can talk to him about anything, no matter what.…

Courage is a heroic trait. Firstly, Furthermore “The Minor Canon had been afraid to go away and leave him, and had hoped all through the day that he would soon be satisfied with his inspection and fly away home” (Stockton3). This proves courage because he had the courage to stay with the griffin all day to protect the village. Lastly “And you cast your fears aside,” (“Hero”). This demonstrates courage because it takes courage to cast your fears aside when you’re terrified.…
