Personal Narrative: What A Mom Takes To Be A Hero
When I was a little girl, a hero meant having super powers and saving the world from villains as I saw in movies like Batman, Superman, and pretty much every superhero movie. As I grew up, I started realizing that being a hero meant more than that. It takes courage, strength, and bravery to do half the tasks those characters did in the movies. I honestly think the one person that comes closest to a hero would be my own mother. Not only does she exemplify the numerous amount of traits it takes to be called a hero, she had to go through so much to learn from her mistakes and become the woman she is today. To be a hero doesn’t mean one has to be super brave and smart and change the world. To me, being a hero means having the emotional

Throughout history, there have been an incalculable number of heroes; that can be through reality or fictitious. From viewing the clips from this assignments and reading various articles regarding heroism, there are multiple aspects that determine exactly what a hero should be. In regards to the Spiderman video, Aunt May explains that a hero is someone that is courageous, self-sacrificing, and sets examples for others. Likewise, an article I read describes a hero as someone who is courageous, selfless, humble, patient, and caring. In my opinion, a hero is an individual who cares more about the life of others than themselves; they would do anything in their power to protect others as well as the world around them.…

What is a hero?A hero is someone who can save someone else’s life or teach them things that can change their life. Three people that inspire me or made me want to make a difference in the world are Malcolm X, Martin Luther King Jr. , and Rosa Parks. They are my heros because they done things that they believe in and that they thought were fair because they wanted to make sure everyone had rights to do whatever they want whenever they wanted to do it. I believe that everyone has a voice in the world and if u believe in something u should do it no matter what the risks are.…

There are many definitions of the word ‘hero’ but Dictionary.com defines a hero as a man of distinguished courage or ability, admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities, a person who, in the opinion of others, has heroic qualities or has performed a heroic act and is regarded as a model or ideal, the principal male character in a story, play, film, etc. While growing up, I can remember many instances where we were asked to write about and describe who we felt our ‘hero’ was. The common and cliche answer amongst many people is “my mom.” Under the dictionary definition I don’t know that all of my classmates moms, including my own, are heroes.…

A hero to many is someone who goes around running impossible speeds like flash doing good or a person with supernatural powers. Or like Judah thinks a hero is the good guy that fights the bad guy and always wins. However, to me a hero is a person who doesn’t care about money, fame and glory but they care about the happiness they can bring and the care they can bring for their family. A person who consoles me when I am upset, a person who always tries to find the good in everything. A person who fights for her beliefs(even if sometimes they are stubborn about it). A person who always gets me on my good side when I have a bad day. Someone who smiles and laughs at her own mistakes. Ciocia Tereska this why you are my hero!!! Against all odds…

The official definition for a hero is a person, typically a man who is admired or idealized for courage. Which I agree, a hero is someone who has tons of courage and can make anyone feel safe. I would say a trustworthy man/woman adds to the characteristics of a hero. A hero is also a protector of everyone around. Over time, the definition of a hero has changed since the Anglo-Saxons to today in Hollywood. Because the definition of a hero has changed over time, who our heroes are and what makes them a hero has changed also. The Mirriam-Webster Dictionary explains that a hero is “a person admired for great deeds or fine qualities.” To me, that means that a hero would be selfless, honest, and hardworking.…

It was a hot summer night in August. I could not sleep; I feared that the upcoming baby would steal my mom’s love from me. It is normal for children to desire their parents’ love and attention, especially for a kid like me who grew up with a single mom. At the age of four, my mom was my whole world. I thought she felt the same way until she announced that she would have a baby. I would not have accepted the fact that my mom could divide her love between me and my sister. However, when I observed my mom holding a tiny crying baby in her arms, witnessing her happy tears gave me the strength to take care of my little sister. My little sister’s existence not only taught me how to be caring and selfless to my family, but it also sparked the compassion in me to care for others…

I want to start off by saying how excited I am to be joining A Place for Mom!! I started my career in health care nine years ago, originally working in nursing. I have worked in a variety of health care settings; Independent/Assisted Living, Memory Care, Long Term Care, Skilled Care, and the Hospital. I always knew I wanted to help people, seniors in particular. As a child I grew up living next door to my grandparents and did everything with them, this is where my love for seniors began. While working in the Hospital I came to the conclusion that nursing was not the way I was going to help people. I began working at an Assisted Living Community in Ames, Iowa as the Sales Director. I quickly learned that, that was how I was going to help people. For three years I got the pleasure of not only helping many families relieve their stress and fears for their loved ones care and safety, but I was also able to ensure their loved ones were able to live out their final years thriving. It was truly the most rewarding job, which brought me to A Place for Mom. At A Place for Mom I won't be limited to helping just the families that…
