Personal Narrative: Water Towers
We left at 2am. We were all tired and ready to get into the car. Henry was already in the car sleeping before we had finished packing the car. I had my bag, pillow, blanket, phone, and headphones. What did the stuff look or feel like That was all I needed. I got into the middle row which had one seat up while Henry and Caroline were in the back row together. I liked not having to share my space with anyone except our dog, Baloo. Baloo was not a very energetic dog so he was never a bother to me give more detail about what baloo looked like. My siblings and I were waiting in the car while our parents were turning off all of the lights in the house and making sure the animals were where they needed to be.what animals needed to be where? Once we …show more content…
Once again, my dad and I were the only ones awake. He had the AM radio on high and was singing along as he was driving. What kind of music?Henry was snoring with his head up against the window. Caroline was soundly sleeping with her mouth wide open. Was it funny? I watched out the window to observe the passing cars and the states on their license plates. Water Towers were enamoring to me for some reason. For some reason, I thought they were really cool.what did the water towers look like? So I rested my head on my pink satin pillow and observed the various cars going by and water towers. It was not long before my dad realized I had awoken. I asked him if we could drive through somewhere to eat but instead he suggested I should go back to sleep. I did not comply. I would try to go back to sleep but that was difficult for me due to all the distractions surrounding me. What were the distractions? I saw the edge of the wooden clipboard with my friendship bracelet Caroline had helped me make. I began working on the tangled up friendship bracelet. What did it look like? I was frustrated because I kept messing up so I closed my eyes and put my headphones back in.what type of music were you listening to I felt so relaxed and at peace. It wasn’t until about 12 that they had woken up. We had trouble agreeing on where to drive through to get food so my dad flipped a coin. None of us were ever satisfied with where we ended up driving

I remember day after day going to swimming lessons in the summer of 2002 at the Mount Vernon pool. Almost every day I walked by the ladder that seemed to go on forever. I used to sit on the pools edge and watch the older kids do flips and other cool tricks off of the high dive. Many times I had gotten half way up the ladder but couldn't bring myself to go all the way up. For a seven year old going off the high dive was like a right of passage and a way to be seen as "cool" in the eyes of the older kids. Today I will be telling you about the first time a braved the high dive.…

Music blared from my cellphone as I folded my laundry. Jeans went in a pile at the end of my bed and shirts were folded in the center. Mom had come home a few hours ago and was napping in her room on the other side of the house, a few walls between us. I heard the front door of our apartment pop open, so I dropped my clothes and ambled out of my room, through the hallway, and into the kitchen.…

I entered into the new house, it was so empty. I could feel the weight in the air. The cold, frightening new air. I walked over to what is now my parents room, I rolled the sleeping bag onto the carpet, and slept on the floor. Something felt strange, I was sleeping on carpet. Never before had I fallen asleep on carpet. Always on hardwood floor. I recall falling asleep in sorrow, trying to grasp a little bit of hope out of myself. I tried to see the best in the situation, but all I could think about was the people I just left, all I could think about was the past. I couldn’t bring myself to the present. My mind and heart still in Ecuador, my cold body here. This was probably one of the worst moments of my life. I don’t think I have ever cried so much. I don’t think that I’ve ever felt so isolated. I didn’t know who I was. Everything that made me had the reset button pushed on it. All of my pride and courage felt lost. I felt so weak. I needed to become someone new.…

We drove in a bright emerald minivan who was older than America. The seats were a gray-blue color, the color of a stormy sea. The cup holders were half broken and the windows were covered in tiny sticky fingerprints. The sun beat down in hot and stifling waves. All the liquid in the car was near boiling and crayons were melting into the seats. The air conditioning was a blessing on my skin. When we first arrived, we stayed in a Best Western hotel by the river that made really good cheesy omelets. After two weeks, we rented a dull, brown house in a neighborhood near where I live now. It had thick fluffy jade colored carpet in the basement, petite bedrooms, an overrun backyard, and a painfully small…

The rumbling of the wagon. The clacking from the horses. A vigorous smell from the wild plants. The shivers that I get at night. I couldn’t stand it. I stood up from my two feet and began to walk towards to someone that I would know of. “Hey, Pa when are we gonna stop?” I asked. You may be wondering why my Pa isn’t sleeping at this kind of hour. Well, I can tell you why. He can’t sleep at night either.…

Growing up in Hawaii the ocean or the pool was the place I felt most comfortable. My dad is a big reason why I love the water and being so active. He signed me up on the Kona Dolphins swim team when I was ten years old. I immediately fell in love. I loved being able to push myself to swim faster and continuing to beat my fastest times. My coach saw potential in me and continued to push me to become a faster swimmer. But, as I got older and entered middle school, I grew apart from the sport and desired to do other things. About five years later I met another sport called water polo. My good friend Reiko told me about our schools team and said i would love it. I was nervous about starting a new sport as a sophomore, especially one so rigorous.…

Later that morning, in the sunlit dining hall, breakfast was being severed. My group sat at the table we sat at the night before. As I started to eat my tater-tots , the events from yesterday filled my mind. My group went snorkeling, both day and night, I could still feel the cold water soak my wetsuit. I remembered that Mr. Lacey, our principal, announced that the school would be leaving today because of a storm. I was disappointed because I payed for three days instead of two,but at least I was having fun.…
