Personal Narrative-Water Experience
The most prominent time that I had to call upon my internal character is when I was asked to help with a group of kids from Mexico city that came up to Duluth for a month. During this time I was asked join the group on a weeklong trip to the boundary waters. The week before this trip I was at a camp called Positive Energy, it is a summer camp, during this week we went canoeing and rock climbing. The group from Mexico had never done anything like that so the camp leader asked me to help them learn the basic skills like paddle strokes and how to belay for climbing. After the week was up I was approached by the leader and asked if I would join them in the following week trip to the boundary waters as an assistant counselor, I couldn't say no. our first few night we spent camping and exploring the beautiful northern Minnesota. These kids had never even set up a tent before this, so me and the other American person I was with helped them learn how to set up a tent, start a fire and filter water.

I had taken Spanish during my previous schooling and because of this I was able to be more of a help with the kids from Mexico. As I was able to understand what they were saying when they forgot a word in English. It helped create more of a relationship with them than if I didn’t, I was able to help them understand what was going on when our leader was talking too fast for them to understand.
While they were up here for a month is was also a learning experience, I was able to learn about a different culture from a direct source and learn about their thought and feeling about the wonderful place that we live. From hearing them talk about the differences from northern Minnesota and Mexico City I learned how lucky I am to live where I do for example they kept talking about how the water tastes here and how lucky we are to have the trees and air quality we

Living with Mexican or American people would be perfect if both of them knew one another’s language. School, jobs, and traveling are a big part in why people should know how to speak and understand more than one language. These three topics go well together because your start off with school to get a good job and then having money to travel to places you always dreamed of going to. The interesting thing about this paper is the fact that knowing more than one language has more advantages than disadvantages. Although some people would not be interested to learn, they should recognize the fact that when they do learn to speak a different language more opportunities come their way and they will feel proud for what they accomplish. To this end, hopefully if people read this essay it will convince them on why it is important to speak and understand different people from all races speaking another language when they are around them. They might be talking trash about them and they would not have a clue in how to respond back. Although, it is like learning anything new because it will take time and reflection until people master…

I've never been an "outdoors" experience kind of person. Maybe, it's because I'm very sedentary and prefer to stay inside to read and enjoy tranquility. I avoid all types of chaos and crowded places. Nevertheless, my visit to the Camuy River Cave Park (back in 2004) was refreshing and enriching in knowledge, historically, scientifically and spiritually. That experience brought the best out of me, as a human being and a nature lover, by giving the chance of experiencing a whole new level of peace and tranquility.…

Spanish is spoken by a diverse range of cultures—however, these cultures come together, united by their shared values, to create what we know as the Latino community. Though learning the language is principal in a Spanish class, learning about the culture of that language is almost equally as important. If you do not understand a culture, you can never fully understand its language. Therefore, knowing the significance and effectiveness of bilingual education and the fundamental characteristics of the Latino community is a perfect way to begin a journey into the depths of the Spanish language and the culture surrounding it.…

As I prepared to teach kids who knew no English, all I could think about was how awful my Spanish was and how terribly disappointed I was that I never learned to speak the language fluently. I definitely knew many Spanish words and phrases, but was far from being fluent. Having been raised by an Anglo, English-only speaking mom, and a Mexican dad, fluent in Spanish, who spoke in English to my sister, mom, and me, I was frequently exposed to Spanish being spoken around me (when dad conversed with his…
