Personal Narrative: The Red Carpet Bowl
When you hear the words "Red Carpet Bowl" you immediately think of the annual football bowl games that they sponsor in the month of August to kick off the football season with a preseason celebration. I have been a spectator at these annual bowl games for over ten years. Once I entered high school I participated in the bowl games as a cheerleader, dancer, and band member. The Red Carpet Bowl committee provides a meal for each participating team and their cheerleaders in the bowl game. This delicious meal usually consists of a juicy piece of chicken, creamy potato salad, barbeque baked beans, and a slice of yellow cake. This meal was greatly appreciated by the football teams and their cheerleaders because they need some type of nutrition before they take part in a long night physical activity. As a cheerleader I know we appreciated the meal …show more content…
These shirts serve as souvenirs for teams participating in the bowl games. This bowl game is also a great opportunity for high school players to have a true bowl game experience. The Red Carpet Bowl committee has given Porters Chapel, St. Aloysius, Vicksburg, and Warren Central High School football teams the opportunity to play against teams they would not usually come across like Gulfport and Wayne County. These Red Carpet Bowl T-shirts are worn proudly by the participating band members as well. The bands usually wear the shirts because it is extremely too hot to wear the traditional band uniforms. Over the years I have generated a collection of Red Carpet Bowl tees that I have accumulated over. The committee also hosts the Red Carpet Basketball Classic games for basketball players as well. This year the festivities were hosted at Warren Central High School. One member of the Red Carpet Bowl Committee mentioned how entertaining the intense cheer battle was between the cheerleaders from Warren Central High School and O’Bannon High School

Indeed, arriving for a game at Allen Fieldhouse can feel like preparing to rummage through the dusty archives of college basketball. But after a 2005 renovation, there's nothing musty about the newly developed structure. And with one of the best teams in the NCAA holding court inside, Allen Fieldhouse is all about the traditions that…

Year after year, faithful collegiate football fans gather around the tailgate of their cars in parking lots around the nation and cook mediocre meals that taste delicious at the time because they share it with their fellow fans and season ticket holders. They all live different lives, but on Saturday, every weekend, they are the same, crazed fans that keep coming back to see their favorite team or Alma matter finish the day with a victory and so they can add one more to the win column of their record. Hopefully, they do not have to experience a loss and this year’s team goes undefeated, with a shot to play in the national championship and prove to the country, in one game, that they are the best college football team in America.…

When asked to name a favorite place, some people’s brains may be flooded with memories of different spaces and experiences they have had. But for me, it is easy. Only one place comes to mind—the Joe Louis Arena. The home of the Detroit Red Wings is a dome rich in history and uniquely located in an American city that sits uncharacteristically north of Canada. Built in 1979, The Joe has a personality all of its own. The Joe Louis Arena is my favorite place because of the pre-game experience in the city, the historical vibe of the arena, and, of course, the excitement of the greatest game in sports.…

Dean Nickels started the event off by introducing Scott Naggy, head boys basketball coach. Naggy then talked a little about how they recruit players for South Dakota State University. He then introduced two of his players. The first was from the West side of Chicago, he talked about how he would play basketball to escape from the hardships of growing up in West Chicago. The second player was from Michigan, he explained how basketball was the main sport played in that area. He explained how the teachers there didn't care how the students do in there class they will just pass them to get rid of them. He…

Entertainment in the early days almost always was put on by university band programs. In the early years, band programs from universities such as the University of Arizona and Grambling University (Super Bowl I,) Southern University and Northeast Missouri College (Super Bowl V,) and University of Michigan (Super Bowl VII,) performed during the pre-game. The National Anthem took the same look in the early years, with the anthem being performed by school band programs from Universities such as Arizona and Michigan (Super Bowl I,) and Grambling (Super Bowl II and IX.)…

Michael Herbst, now retired, was the athletic director at the time of the plaintiff’s injury. He will verify that there were no mandatory policies or procedures adopted by the Board that Marella was required to follow in her administration of cheerleading practice. He will also testify that the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference (“CIAC”), the general governing body of athletics in Connecticut schools, does not consider cheerleading a sport and does not promulgate any rules relating to cheerleading. Furthermore, he will testify that he maintained a calendar of where the cheerleading team was practicing on any given day, at the high school of GCA, and he authorized the team to practice there because it was a first class facility that Marella allowed the team to use free of charge. There is an arrangement for…
