Personal Narrative-The Next Generation
One hundred and fifteen feet in the air, all I could do was dangle. Lying on my stomach strapped in by only a harness and a belt, I watched as the ground slipped farther and farther away from me. I had been preparing for this for almost over an hour. With my father beside me, we braced ourselves for the drop. The Superman was supposed to be as fast as a rocket and was supposed to leave a heroic feeling pulsing through your veins.
My father and I waited in line for this ride for almost an hour. Finally the boredom sunk in. It felt like we were watching a snail for an hour. Every now and then my father spoke up saying things like “What time did we get in line?” and “How much longer do you think we’ll wait?”. When we got closer to the entrance my father spoke again saying “Hopefully this is worth the wait”
“It better be!” I said. He smiled and nodded as we

I sat on the outside of the row. As I buckled up a worker came and helped me. He checked to make sure I was strapped in tight then moved on. As soon as everyone was safely buckled in the ride made a clicking noise and the seats that were just facing vertically were now horizontal. I was lying on my stomach. What if I fall or if the harness suddenly lets go. Why am I doing this? My thoughts were interrupted by the lady working yelling “clear!” and the ride jerked forward. I looked over at my father and he was smiling ear to ear. I heard something so I looked up at the loud noise and saw that we were about to be taken upward. The clinking of the chains pulling the car up made the adrenaline rush surge through me. I forgot all my fears and became super excited. We were getting closer and closer to the top. As we raised our hands in the air the ride made a wretched noise and the clinking of the chains slowed to a stop. Right as we were about to drop the chains didn’t let us go. We were stuck laying on our stomachs facing the

Throughout my life I have encountered many circumstances that have shaped me into the person I am today. I was born in Moroleon, Guanajuato, Mexico. I attended school in Mexico all the way to second grade. In the summer of 2006 I moved to Cumming, Georgia. It was the hardest thing to do because I left everything that I care the most about. We lived in a trailer which was not the nicest place and in the middle of the forest. I started school at the beginning of August. I had always loved school so I was so excited for the first day. I knew it was going to be hard because I would have to conquer so many obstacles on the way. At this time the only English I knew was probably counting from one to ten and some of the colors. My Father knew some…

Climbing into the lime green car, my fear was over taking me. I was getting ready to ride the Titan, an adrenaline pumping roller coaster ride at Six Flags. It was easily the scariest ride at the park, in my opinion, with its enormous peaks, its deep descents, and double helix like turns was enough to make me sick. The ride began. Ascending up in the car on the canary yellow track, into the humidity filled, bright sky, the people observing from below resembled little army ants . The aerial view of Dallas was breathtaking, as I reached the peak of the ride and looked around. Passengers occupying the cars in front of me started falling off, like a cliff. I let out a high-pitched shrill, as we plummeted toward the Earth below. Traveling…

Traveling into the Indian Territory, we were being angrily chased down by three Indians furiously shouting at us. Dashing through the thick forest, the savage Indians were throwing spears and shooting arrows that narrowly missed us. Although neither Gideon nor I was mortally injured, I did suffer from a nick from an arrow piercing near my ear. Thankfully, a group of burly fur traders approached from the side, which frightened the Indians to run away. Acknowledging that Gideon and I were inexperienced travelers in the west, they offered us protection in exchange for some valuable possessions. As a consequence, knowing that they were our best alternative for survival, we gave them our antique gold pocket watches and assumed the identities of novice fur traders. From that point on, we followed them through the west and adopted their skills for efficiently hunting animals and keeping warm in the harsh, cold weather. During one of our rest points, we approached a large Cherokee settlement located in Park Hill in which our group leader was friends with the Cherokee leader John Ross.…

Walking into the locker room about to get ready to go to our last football game of the season. I could smell the sweaty equipment from the kids who never take their pads home. The Hempfield Spartans 7th grade team would be ending their season 0-7 if we didn’t win today. As I was changing into my pads my friend mike walked in the room. I said “you ready for tonight”. “Heck yeah” replied Mike.…

In chapter 12, the key event to me was when Claudia and Finn talked to each other through the keys. I felt many emotions when reading their interaction one of them being happy. I felt happy when they talked to each other because it was a turning point in the story in my opinion. I also felt surprised because at first, I thought by having two keys, there would be a lock that would need both keys to hear and speak to each other. I also felt confused by the way they conversed; How could they now hear each other but not before. I think by having one key being touched, the other key can hear because on page 153 Claudia says she breathed and rubbed on the key making it warm and on page 154 Finn says when he touches the key it's warm.I like the way the author wrote the scene from both perspectives, it gave us the readers a clearer understanding of how both Finn and Claudia felt. I also like how the author described the way both keys affect each other and have a "key" connection.…

My mother, “Regina Hopkins,” has been a positive influence in my life. She has raised 6 kids all by herself as well as earned a Bachelor’s degree in nursing from a City College in Gainesville, Florida. My mother has been through pretty much everything a person can go through outside of war and was still able to be there and provide for all 6 of her kids. In high school, my mother wanted to play football and couldn't because she was a girl and back-in-the-day women were not allowed to play football with the guys. However, she remained strong by raising 6 kids and independently took care of all of us on her own. My mother has several qualities that I would love to develop. The first quality she has is balance; she certainly knows how to make…

Ever since I was born, I was a military brat. Not knowing where to call home, or if any place could be home, I moved. I moved six times, four of those places were towns that nobody could think about. Germany, North Carolina, Alaska, North Carolina, Germany, and Alaska, yet no place to call home. May 22, 1999, my first day on this world; Kronach hospital had its first American baby in their hands, yet they acted like I was a different species. The only event I remember was when I was about one. While I was one, I grabbed everything in my reach, even a grill handle. As a baby, I did not know that the handle was moving, the grill top had smashed my thumb. Ever since that event, I now have a starfish mark on the side of my right thumb from where the stiches were.…

Suddenly, I began rising, the distance between my shoes and the sidewalk greatly increasing. I was floating upward, like a balloon. It almost felt like the sky was a giant magnet, pulling me towards it. Looking down at the small sidewalk, my head grew dizzy and I began to panic. Did I mention I have a fear of heights? Oh god, I thought, I have a fear of heights and I can somehow fly? Tightly shutting my eyes, I willed for this experience to just be a dream. I slowly opened my eyes, and immediately filled with dread. I was still floating, but it took me a second to realize that I wasn’t floating upwards, anymore, I was floating back down. I sighed with relief and glanced around the alley to make sure no one else had witnessed the incident. It wasn’t until I was about 15 feet off the ground that I stopped moving completely and then I suddenly dropped to the sidewalk, gravity at work. I fell with a thud and took a few moments to collect my thoughts. Slowly getting to my feet, I remained in complete denial of what just previously occurred. I continued on my way to work, remembering how late I…

Settling myself down onto the ride, I feel a little uncomfortable. Stepping onto the roller coaster, the metal seems like sinking beneath my feet. The unstable ground bounces up and down as “passengers” exiting and entering the ride. The black plastic seat has been bleached, giving the riders a sense of disgust and uneasy. Placing my arms on the armrest, the rough surface feels like hundreds of blunt pencils rubbing on my skin. Sitting down, my legs are cramped by the lack of space. The seat belt squeezes on my belly, making breathing much harder. Then, the shiny metal safety frame is lowered. Fitting myself perfectly, two…

While wondering around for a bit, waiting for the food to digest, I stumbled onto my favorite ride, the Zipper. The ride shook with each person that stepped on the old metal cages. Once I heard the loud siren go off, I grabbed tighter onto the metal bar and closed my eyes knowing that it was going to get wild. After the first spin there was not a better feeling I could have experienced, with the death screams of the other riders and whooshing wind in my ears, I felt thrilled. After the…

“Wooooshhhhh!!!” At blast off, California Screamin, took us through twists and turns, with an upside down loop. People were screaming their lungs out when the steel roller coaster soared into the air like a rocket. The terrifying speed made my toes curl and the strong wind pushed my head against the rubber black seat. I cried bloody murder on the coaster as it fell plumb down almost touching the ground. All too soon, it was over. After I got off of the thrill ride, I found my haggard look with disheveled hair through a snapshot picture. This is simply too awful to contemplate.…
