Personal Narrative: The National Society Of Collegiate Scholars
Throughout my academia, I have been a member of several clubs and organizations, but have yet to attend a free leadership and service conference. The National Society of Collegiate Scholars needs a free in-person event that hosts a multitude of workshops from becoming a better member, to becoming a better leader and more. This event should be a two-day weekend long including update meetings on how the organization is accomplishing its endeavors and goals in terms of membership count, influence in the community, and upcoming events. During a workshop, we could bring in experts to discuss how to become a better writer to increase our chances of earning NSCS scholarships and other scholarships. In another workshop, our members and club leaders …show more content…
Moreover, the National Society of Collegiate Scholars focuses on career building. Therefore our organization can bring in resume experts to provide a hands on resume and CV mini-course for those in the job hunt. To conclude the conference festivities, members will have the chance to kick back at a fun event like a pool party, barbeque, or a banquet. Club members and its leaders will benefit from this hands-on event; between the two service activities, we will eventually see our charity efforts pay off. These events provide a way for members to get to know others, gain stronger leadership skills, complete fun service activities to better their community and acquire vital information. This conference encompasses every aspect of what it means to be a Scholar: scholarship, integrity, and service. Each workshop and activity at the two-day weekend long event will encompass the three pillars our organization represents. At the end of the weekend, our members will be enriched with the tools they need to be even more successful than they already are. To conclude, our members and community will flourish after all of these efforts made during the

Throughout my time is College Composition I, I learned and developed numerous skills that I will carry with me to college and beyond. While writing the five assigned essays, I was able to identify my strengths and weaknesses. I believe a strength of mine was my ability to add in personal stories into my essays. For example, in my definition essay, I included my fear of disappointment and how I work to overcome this particular fear. On the other hand, one weakness that I struggled with was style. While writing my essays, I would sometimes use wordy and unclear sentences structures. Often times I would focus solely on improving my diction while writing my papers.…

I began working at Keeter my first semester at College of the Ozarks. On my first day of work, the supervisor handed me a gleaming gold name tag that not only had my name but the state I came from. I watched as others put their nametags on, and I quickly discovered that most of them read Missouri, Oklahoma, and Arkansas. I looked down at my nametag and felt a sense of uniqueness, knowing no one in the room had the state of Virginia. I soon began to realize that my nametag sparked curiosity when the guests saw how far I had traveled. Guest after guest would ask the same question, “How did you end up here?” I answered this question dozens of times within a day. There were days that I would begrudgingly tell the Keeter guests my journey to this College, but never once did I fail to cherish the opportunity I was given.…

When I was a National Honor Society Member at my High School, we were able to work with a program called VIP Soccer in which volunteers played with and taught special needs children the game of soccer. It was actually my favorite event within our organization especially when we got to see how happy each child was and the smiles on their parents’ faces when they saw that their son or daughter was having fun. Eventually, I was so inspired by this movement that I actually started a similar program but at my local golf club. How I got this started was actually by meeting the owner of the golf club, and the parents of my teammates on my school golf team. After a couple of months of planning and talking to more interested volunteers, I was finally…
