Personal Narrative: The Life Of A Crossfit Gym
RING RING! My phone went off after school got out. I looked at the caller ID and saw it said it was Anna Fetter. She quickly asked me if i wanted to go to crossfit with her that night to babysit and I was so excited I almost screamed out YES!!!!!

When I first walked into the gym, I noticed it smelled like chalk, sweat and metal bars. Ah, the life of a crossfit gym. I always thought that I had wanted to try to start crossfit but when I finally walked into the gym I was certain. I didn't start that day because I was there to babysit but the next day i was 100% certain i was going to. So the next day Anna came and got me and we were on our way. When we got there it was so exhilarating and i just wanted to start! So we started out rowing and running

The most memorable thing that happened to me was when I first discovered what I’m really good at. I came across inspiring Youtube videos of old classic Roller Derby and recent ones that were published only a year ago, I knew from the moment I laid eyes on those quads that I had to try it. In less than two weeks I was a complete natural at skating, I was all about skates. I practiced all the derby stances, exercises, techniques you name it I am absolutely in love with this sport. but as much as I fantasized about doing it I never thought that I’d actually get the chance to be part of their world and have training by the Derby Dames Juniors Freshmeat Association crew, which are ranked the top thirty-one in the united states!…

Based on my personal knowledge of Pentathlon, I have first-handedly experience the soul of a Pentathlete through various study sessions at Ethan Allen. I have been running since I started Modified Track and Field in the seventh grade. Running has been a part of my life ever since then. When I decided to join track I felt as though it was the worst mistake that I could have ever made, simply because i did not like running as a child. After trying it for the first year and not giving up I enjoyed it very much and that is when I stated that I would continue to run track till I graduated high school. Then came ninth grade and not only did I continue to do Outdoor Track but I also joined Indoor Track and it helped me improve with my running for Outdoor Track. Two days. Two days was how long the break between training for track, and training for cross country started. As a team our goal was to have the top 12 guys run 500 miles each, which at the time seemed to be an unreasonable goal. However Coach Hampton was confident that this was a reachable goal and encouraged not only the top 12 guys, but the the JV guys as well, to join in and train with the top 12.This was the summer of 2016, I had just had track state and made it to finals for the 4x8 only to get my relay disqualified because I cut into the inside lanes of the track before the cut off line. This had been our goal all season, make it to state, get to finals, and see what happens. Causing my relay to get disqualified is one my worst moments…

When I was in second grade I learned that I loved competing with people and being good at things. I joined a gymnastics gym near my house in second grade when i was 9, and started competing when i was 10. My mom told me that I have to do well in school if I was going to be focused on a sport along with school, or she would take me out of gymnastics. Soon enough, I wasn’t doing so well in social studies and comm skills. I was scared my mom would make me quit, But I worked as hard as I could so get back up there. Focusing more on school than outside activities, I got that grade back up and I continued with my favorite sport. I love gymnastics, but I don’t let it get in the way of school because school always comes first.…

My first focus was, targeting the things that I’d heard people say, exercise couldn’t change. I started looking at who was saying it couldn’t be done. My first thought was, they gave up too quick. That’s the one thing that I didn’t want to do! I did it like that because, after hearing it so much, they almost had me believing the flaws were unchangeable. Something in me kept telling me to…

Prior to my interview with Bryce Dreager, I thought that the career in personal training seemed fun and something of my interest. Also, I thought it would be a career where I would at least need my bachelors in science for exercise and wellness. I would really love a job where I could be comfortable and love what I do at the same time and personal training sounded like the perfect fit. Most importantly, I made the assumption that I would have to learn a lot about personal training on my own to be really good at it.…

On the first day of practice, I almost died. The running and conditioning had me wanting to crawl on my knees and pass out, and the workouts caused an extreme burning sensation in my muscles. It was as if I could feel the lactic acid slowly seeping into my arms, legs, and abs, making my body feel stiff and heavy. When I felt was it was like to get slammed for the first time, I knew I didn’t want that to happen again. When I had the wind knocked out of me from being pinned, I thought I wouldn’t get back up. When I got elbowed in the back of the head and was knocked out for 2 seconds; or when I got kneed in the mouth, causing my braces cut my lips and bleed profusely, I was ready to quit right then and there. That night, I went home with aches in places I’d never had before, an extreme headache, and a bloody mouth. But, at the same time, I really enjoyed it.…

My life has a few messes that I feel that I need to sort out. I realized these when I was early into my school experience, when I was a younger child, but came into focus when I was about in freshman year of high school, and I would ignore it from time to time. These problems that kept persisting were my college choice, actually applying to the college, and my personal health and fitness. Back when I was younger, my health never really bothered me. I was who I was. I didn't care about being big, I just cared about being a joyful kid. It started catching up to me around the time my seventh year of school started, and got more worrisome as the years went on. I tried to do something about it, like running on the treadmill, tried learning a martial…
