Personal Narrative: The Golden Gate Bridge
“. . . . Then, you can turn around and head back to the L shaped dock, where you then turn right to head up the big hill. . . .” The video kept droning on about directions for biking across the Golden Gate Bridge. I did not even know why I was listening, because I wasn’t leading, Luke, my brother was. Finally, the video had finished and we got to get our bikes. They were all the same set up, gears and brakes, one for the front wheel and one for the back wheel. It was nice to be biking around San Francisco instead of walking because my feet still hurt from yesterday's walk up Coit tower. We got lucky because on the ride to Fort Point there was only one big hill up and that was not even to bad. Fort Point was so cool the roof of it was flat with a bunch of …show more content…
Then, Luke showed me where he accepted the sealine to pop up again and sure enough after a few seconds the sealine popped up.
At that time we had to get back on our bikes. About 0.1th of a mile we turned right to go up a humongous hill, then started to go across the Golden Gate Bridge it was a nice flat ride we stopped in the middle it was breathtaking you could see the ocean and Marren County. After that quick break, we when down a super long and exhilarating hill to the town of Sausalito or as we called it Sausage-gelato. It was the best! We had a small way before we got to the center of town.
Once we got to the center of town we were all starving! After we locked up our bikes we looked for the best place to eat. We ended up going to Napa Valley Burgers. IT WAS AMAZING! The burgers were cooked to perfection, and the egg I had on mine was so moist.
Once we finished we had to wait for like 20 minutes just to get on a ferry to San Francisco. The whole time you had to listen to my brother complaining about not being able to bike back over the Golden Gate Bridge. The ferry took us right past Alcatraz which we were at two days befor. It was an amazing way to spend my

I woke up feeling so excited. Once we got everything we needed, we were out the door and into the car. We left real quick so we could find a parking spot.I couldn’t wait to get there and ride the roller coasters, Mr. Freeze, The Boss, etc., but the one ride that I really wanted to go on was The Batman. The ride looked so awesome. I heard that you go upside down during the ride.…

After Big Sur and spending the night in Pacifica we went further north to San Francisco. When we spent the night in Pacifica our hotel was right near the ocean. It was such a beautiful view to wake up to. I just absolutely love the sound of the ocean. In San Francisco we went over the Golden Gate Bridge. It was a pretty cool thing to see with the views of San Francisco and the ocean. We then went to the park across from the Painted Ladies. The Painted Ladies are the houses that appear in the background of the opening of the original Full House series. It was an awesome thing to go see as I grew up watching Full House and will still watch it from time to time. Once we were done at the park we went to the San Francisco Giants stadium. Although…

I have heard many people around me saying that you should go walk the Brooklyn Bridge at least once and I never have a chance to fulfill it. Through this opportunity, I called my friend up to accompany me to walk the Bridge for the first time. Based on the information from the history of the United States, the Brooklyn Bridge was completed in 1883 and considered as an engineering marvel for that time. It remains as one of the oldest suspension bridges in the United States. During mid-1800s, the ferries connected Manhattan and Brooklyn. Ferries was a major convenience transportation for us, the people of that day were used to oars and sails to ride boats. These faster, more reliable ferries helped Brooklyn grow until the bridge was build. When…

And the Lake Tahoe ride was wonderful, something all able-bodied should try to experience once. Circling the lake in a ride billed as America’s Most Beautiful Bike Ride was incredible. We began in the chill of 6:30 am, with spectacular sun angles on mountain and water, and ended 8 hours later in the warm afternoon after climbing Nevada’s Spooner Summit. At the finish line there was applause from hundreds of spectators and earlier finishers.…

It was an amazing drive! I was surprised that California was so beautiful. Towering redwood trees lined much of the drive, along with farms for almost any fruit or vegetable I could imagine. When we could finally see the coastline, it was breathtaking. We passed through a few small coastal towns and saw countless fresh produce stands on the side of the highway. We stopped for lunch at a Thai restaurant in Moss Landing, CA. The food was amazing, and we could see the ocean from our table! The day was already a success in my book. When we arrived in Monterey, we drove down to Cannery Row and parked the car. We strolled around all of the different shops for a couple of hours, and then we headed even farther down the coast. We stopped at a parking area that overlooked quite possibly the most scenic place I had ever seen. There were huge waves crashing on giant boulders in the ocean. We just sat there and watched the waves crash for at least an hour. The salty smell…

We said our final goodbyes to our house and started driving towards California with our cramped car. Beforehand my parents planned some places where we were going to go to along the way such as going to places we been never before, but eventually in about a week we would reach California! My mom and dad said that “we will definitely be going to Niagara Falls and Mount Rushmore and the rest of the things we will figure out along the way.” We went through Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, Colorado, Wyoming, South Dakota, Utah, Colorado, and Nevada. To start, the first interesting place we stopped at was Niagara Falls in Ontario, Canada. At Niagara Falls we listened to the sound of the water rushing and the crisp and clear sound of the water. Our family took pictures in front of the waterfall with the water flying in our faces. “The waterfall is so pretty with that rainbow,” my family said in awe. At Niagara Falls the water was rushing down so fast you could hear the clear and crisp swooshing sound of the water. Niagara Falls is a waterfall that formed about 12,000 years ago and in the 1900’s it became a popular place for daredevils to do stunts and for people to go on honeymoons. On the way to our next stop we stopped by Notre Dame College in Indiana. Our family quickly looked at the campus and football field…

I always keep this poem and picture in my wallet. I take it everywhere with me because it means quite a lot to me in two very different ways. One of those ways is because it holds sentimental value. When I was younger I learned to read very late in life and I was always so embarrassed of that. My father knew that I was struggling and bought me the book, Where the Sidewalk Ends. It is a book full of poems and little pictures written by Shel Silverstein. I remember opening the book to ta random page, and it was the page with this poem. I then remember my dad asking me to read it to him. I was so uncomfortable, even thought I was just going to be reading to my dad. He gave me some words of encouragement, and even thought I was not able to read…

Over the 12 day hike, we climbed numerous mountains through different terrains, saw different animals both dead and alive and learned so much about nature and conservation. We met so many fellow scouts and adults from all over the country and other countries, which was a great learning experience. I participated in games and activities like throwing tomahawk, Fly Fishing, Archery, Muzzle Loading Rifles, enjoyed the Sweat Lodge, visited some famous sites like the pioneer Kit Carson’s home along the Santa Fe Trail, helped the staff at Carson Meadows with a search and rescue mission, learned how to homestead at Crooked Creek, enjoyed mountain living, visited the wreckage of a B24 bomber that crashed while on a training mission in 1942 that can only be seen by hiking all the way to the top of the mountain, ate a chuck wagon dinner, enjoyed a cowboy campfire, visited the Continental Tie and Lumber Company at Crater Lake and worked on a trail construction project with the Conservation Department. All this was a memorable experience that I will cherish…

On day 1, we experienced the Bicycle Safari around Olympic Circuit. After the safari, we visited the ANZ Stadium and had a tour around it. The following day was a long journey to Canberra, the capital of Australia. In Canberra, we visited the old and new Parliament and then visited the National Museum. Then we returned to Sydney for dinner and back to the hotel. In the 3rd day of the trip, we had a beautiful harbor cruise to visit the world famous Opera House and the Harbor Bridge. Then we experienced the view from the top of the Sydney Tower where we also experienced a 4D cinema based on the Sydney Tower. But unfortunately the weather became bad and it started to rain so we left without seeing Opera House. Next, we visited the Sydney Aquarium, the largest in Australia.
