Personal Narrative: The Day I Remember
Everyone remembers that day on September 12 at 7:56 am in room 103, and currently Mrs. Mirena will remember this day completely. Here is the story behind the day of September 12th at 7:56 am, in room 103. The day started out like any normal day in room 103, Mrs. Mirena yelling at her 7th grade honors reading class. Evan asked if he could go get a drink at the water fountain, and Skylar asked to go to her locker. The next thing Tessa Morin (a student in 7th grade) remembers was Evan and Skylar trying to go through the door of room 103, side by side.

“ I think all of us were just watching videos or playing games until the period ended”. Then when there were 5 minutes left in class, CJ called out that we should keep it a secret and not tell anybody. Of course everyone agreed on this and it was set, free periods for the rest of the school year. At least that was what 7th grade thought. Many days passed, turning into months, and actually the class did get bored. When the phone was ringing, Lily had to answer it and say Mrs. Mirena is getting coffee. “Life was great and there was no homework, quizzes, or test” Kat exclaimed. Then after winter break, the worst thing had happen. Mrs. Mastandrea found out and the whole 7th grade class got a month of detention, but that was even the worst part, we were going to have to have a new teacher. For every day until Mrs. Mastandrea could find a new teacher, she was the teacher, and boy was she stricter. “Mrs. Mastandrea didn’t let us talk at all and she gave us 2 hour work of homework each night!” Frank screamed. “I don’t think I can handle all this work, I need to practice my football”. Eventually Mrs. Mastandrea found a teacher for the 7th graders and she was even stricter than Mrs.

"The bell rang and we went to our next class, each of us knowing our classmate was in the locker, but none daring to open it up to let him out. I don't know if he yelled for help, if he banged on the metal locker to get our attention, or if he remained mute like that woman in the movie 'The Pit and the Pendulum.' Her locker was riddled with sharp spikes ready to pierce her when she could stand no longer. So he had it way better."…

32 “Well its actually happening ma’, I’m goin’ back to school.”Rufus said. “I want you to know, I truly am proud of you Rufus.” His mother replied. Curtis and Janet went to a different school then Rufus but he still walked them to school then walked himself to school. On his way to school a car followed him very slowly but Rufus kept walking. When he got to school it looked the same on the outside that it always had. Rufus pushed open the doors at Searingtown School and yelled “I’m back!” All of his friends ran over to hug him. He went down to the office to get a tour he thought he didn’t need because he remembered every single solitary thing about this place. While the tour was going on everything going on was a blur. He looked left, right and left again, admiring the changes the school had made. “Wow” he sighed. “Is there a problem Rufus?” the tour guide asked. Rufus answered, “When I was here the wall paint was all chipped, there were broken windows and holes in the walls.” “Oh ok, well that concludes our tour and this door on your right is your first period class.” The tour guide replied. Rufus walked in and sat at an available seat at the back of the class room. He opened his notebook and took notes even though he didn’t understand anything that was going on. By the time 5th period came around it was time for lunch he was starving. All of his friends called him over and asked him to sit with him. Momma didn’t make him a big lunch because they didn’t have that much food in the house and then needed to split it 3 different ways. Allison who used to have a big crush on Rufus sat right next to him. Mitchell and Charlie sat across from him and Christina, Alisha and Sammy sat around them. When the bell rang he went to his locker and when he got to class he looked out the window and saw the same car that followed him to school. The only person he thought of was Simon. But he didn’t have a car? Rufus ran to the office to explain the…

“Wrong answer Laurran, do it again,” Mrs. Taylor raised her voice at me. The room went silent. Nobody was talking or moving, to scared to get scolded by Mrs. Taylor. I always wondered who would want to marry her, or how she treated her kids at home. I honestly feel bad for her two kids if she treated her own students this way. I sat there, my eyes tearing up from embarrassment and failure. Mrs. Taylor doesn't understand how hard it is; doing math that is a grade above your level of experience. She doesn’t understand the pressure that is on me from my parents to do good and from the older kids in my class to show them I’m not dumb and I can do this.…

It had been a free class, the History teacher happened to be absent so a junior teacher had come, just for substitution, telling everyone to do their work, but not talk. Instantly, as the teacher exited, the atmosphere of the small room changed to a great extent. Children started running out of the class, lunch boxes in hand. Some thought it better to just ditch the food, and play. Some, with their food, just walked to their friend’s seats, and sat together in a group, sharing food as well as gossip. Sometimes, two girls, behaving a lot like two love birds, would sit together, softly talking and eating. And there were those unpopular girls who had to tolerate sitting and eating alone, every single day.…
