Personal Narrative: The Center Of The Soccer Field
Throughout my high school career, I’ve had my highs and lows, whether it be trouble in my classes, girl problems, or family issues I always had this one place I could go to each time I had a something wrong and just escape it all, escape the hurricane that we call life and experience the calm, that place, my eye of the storm is the soccer field.
Soccer has always been something I loved but also something that I didn’t always take seriously until about my freshman year of high school. I can remember my first time realizing and seeing how awe-inspiring place the center of a soccer field can be. I was in the latter half of 8th grade, taking part in a league being held by a local K-8 school and my team had made it to the final. After winning that game I remember I just sprinted as hard as I could into the middle of the field and just jumped as high and far as I could and just yelled as hard as could, it was at that moment that I fell in love with the field and game like I never had before.

It was this exact moment that I looked forward to each and every night, it was in this moment that I could forget all the instances in my life that would stress me out and cloud my mind and just clear my head and think of only the positive things and just be in that moment, and I tell you from personal experience that that moment where you have no worries, no stresses, nothing to bring you down and can just be in complete relaxation is simply put, pure and utter

Over the weekend I had a huge Soccer Tournament in Grey. We had two games on Saturday and one game Sunday. In the first game we played a Cumberland club team and beat them 2-0. In our second game we played Westbrook and won 5-0. So at the end of the day we were 2-0 and in first for our bracket, but winslow was also 2-0. Going into Sunday we had to beat South Portland by two goals and not let them score. We ended up tying them 3-3 and we got eliminated because Winslow beat Westbrook 4-0.…

When I was ten years old I tried out for my local travel soccer team. I did not expect to make it, but by some stroke of luck I did. I started playing and it was not what I was expecting. In the past I averaged a hat trick every game, but travel soccer was a lot different. I started playing defense, but that might be an overstatement, because I did not get a whole lot of minutes. I knew that if I wanted to play more I was going to have to put in more work outside of practice. I started practicing everyday switching from running, to foot skills, to agility training. I probably spent more time complaining about it and there were a few time that my parents had to push me to practice, but I knew that I had to put in the work.…

It was a frigid, windy, Friday night in October. The only light was the bright and beaming illumination of the stadium lights projecting over the soccer field. The bleachers were full, it seemed as if the whole school was there, and as a freshman with anxiety, it made it hard to cope with the fact, that I was going to be a starter for the varsity soccer team.…

I would go to the football field and go into the box announcers seat with a crossbow, bottle of water, protein bar, boards and a walkie talkie to respond to the other look outs. I would hide out in the box and since zombies are slow it would take them quite a long time to get to but when they do my look outs will take them out but if some pass by or I lose a person I can shoot them from my perfect view in the box from the field they are on and once all of them have been taken out I will call my crew together announce over the speaker we are safe and then call in on my walkie talkie the helicopter get my crew and head to the white house for our medals of honor for defeating our zombie…

My life has revolved around soccer since I was four years old. My whole family was born into the sport and I’m so thankful that I have the support from my family and friends to continue to follow my dream in playing college soccer. I believe my life would not be the same without participating in the sport I love and playing with the people I grew up with. I wouldn’t have met half the people I know now. All my teammate’s families that treat me like their family would have been just imaginary. I wouldn’t have a second family to fall back on when I need. Soccer had made me for who I am. The reason I’m so competed and driven is because of the game. Soccer has helped me become a responsible hardworking young adult that doesn’t like to fail. My never-quit…

Everyone on my team, including me, were 120% focused during our warm-up because we were versing a good Illinois team and their team’s name was Euro SC Select. This team had a lot of skilled and fast players that were definitely bigger than us. Most of the players on this team were very aggressive and physical too, so my team had to be very strong. There weren’t many times when my soccer games were really intense, but this game was very intense to watch and the parents were getting so nervous and anxious. It was a really close game and we ended up tying the game 0-0. Because of the tie in the championship game, we had to go into penalty kicks. My coach got to choose 5 people to kick from the penalty box and they have to try to make it in. My team was so scared to the point where we all held hands and we stayed very close to each other. In the end we were happy because we had made 3 out of 5 goals in and the other team only made 1 goal out of 5 shots! To phrase it better, my team won the tournament and we all lived happily ever…

I was just sitting there, then all of a sudden Coach Nosse called my name to come up on stage. My eye started to water, next thing I knew I was crying.I was just so embarrassed mainly because I didn't even bother really dressing up because I did not plan on getting up and going on the stage in front of not only my sport but all the other sports around that season. That is only because I figured I would not get any awards at all. But to my surprise, I was awarded with a trophy for “Most…

Starting soccer when I was only five years old was challenging because of my October birthday I had to play with all the six year olds. I started playing club soccer when I was 7 years old, playing for under the wing of Charley Amblo. This was a training team only, it was not till I was nine that I was started playing for a travel team. Going to this college soccer game made everything sink in ever since that moment. I was fitting in and having a good time. It was a little nerve wrecking just wondering “oh no, nobody is going to like me cause I’m a freshmen” and “I’m not going to look cool cause I don’t have very many friends with me” and then I started to wonder “shoot, I wonder what the other people are going to wear” but once I left my room, walked the 10 minute hike to the field, and saw everyone, all those silly thoughts instantly went away. It was just all my anxiety. We all sat down towards the back of the bleachers and gazed at the soccer game, we were late so the action had already started. I’m not really a soccer type of girl but just being there was exciting and felt like a breath of fresh air in some sense.…
