Personal Narrative: The All-Star Team
A day I will always remember was the last game I played after I was selected to be a part of the all-star team in November of 2014. The All-stars are a team containing the best players from every school in Alachua county. Before we traveled to Atlanta Georgia we had to pack up some of our clothes, towels, toothbrushes, deodorant because we were staying down there for a week.
We weren’t used to the weather up there. It was colder than what we were used to and it was almost actually about to snow. We had to wear these small little bean bags in our gloves and when you shake them up they would warm your hands up. Another thing we did was go to church before the games. I appreciated that because we weren’t even from Atlanta but the people in the church still supported us. When we woke up in the morning at our hotel we had a big breakfast for all of us.

I could play both sides of the field so it didn’t matter to me which position I played. While we were in practice I ended up getting hurt and injuring my leg. While I was making a tackle, one of my teammates stepped on the bottom half of my leg, right under my calf. I couldn’t practice for like two days due to the injury but I ended up coming back but I could still feel the effects of what had happen. Everything was all good until somebody ended up stepping on the same exact leg and this time it hurt worse than ever. I limped over to the sideline and fell on my back in pure agony. The pain was excruciating. My coaches ran over to where I was and checked on me, I told them what had happen and they just told me to get up and try to walk on it. It hurt at first but I eventually fought through it and got back on the

The following morning, I skip bike practice again, but Doris goes anyway. At the office, Megan caters to me. On her way in, she stopped at Trader Joe’s to buy me a protein drink with antioxidants from Trader Joe’s, a bottle of chewable Vitamin C and a whole grain carrot muffin. I drink half the bottle and listen as she tells me, “Thom cancelled the development meeting, since he met with you the other day.”…

It was the middle of the summer and I was playing baseball in Jackson, Mississippi. I was playing for the Goodlettsville All-Stars. We were playing in the little league 10u world series. To get to the championship we had to win 8 games and it was single elimination. We had won 7 out of 8 games and we were playing our 8th game and it was the bottom of the third and I was playing left field. In the second inning I was felling drowsy so my dad gave me a Snickers and a Red Bull. I was for sure not drowsy anymore. I could feel the sugar rushing through my veins and I was on the balls of my feet waiting for the pitch to be thrown. When my pitcher threw the ball I had my hand in my glove ready for the ball if it was hit to me. WHAM! The ball was hit so far up in the air it looked like it hit the sun. When I realized that the ball was coming to me I was way too far back so I had to run as fast as I could and dive for the ball. I jumped as far as I could and stretched as far as I could. I barely caught it by snow coning the ball. Everybody was so proud of me that the screamed as loud as they could. We went on to win the game 4-1. The next day I woke up, jumped out of the bed, and put my uniform on. I was so excited, I was in the championship! I…

It all began with a simple phone call one night after dinner. “Joe,” my father hollered up the stairs, “it’s for you. It’s Jackie, and she sounds upset.” As I came downstairs to pick up the phone, I was not happy. I was tired and had looked forward to a nice and quiet evening at home, not another stupid adventure with Jackie.…

In baseball there is an enigma of a pitch called the knuckle ball, which is very difficult for batters to hit because the the ball moves unpredictably in different directions. Often time it feels like life is like trying to hit a home-run off a knuckle ball. When this happens, When life throws us something unexpected we must learn to adapt and respond appropriately.. I learned this when first entering choir as a sophomore with the firm notion that being a bold and strong leader was always the best way to be. Life was about to pitch me a crazy surprise.…

It was winter season and that meant basketball. This year was special because I got to play for Davidson Day’s seventh and eight-grade team. See at our school the middles school ran through 5th to 8th. The middle school basketball teams were divided into a 5th-6th-grade team and a 7th 8th grade team. This season was different; we would play more games and different teams. Also we got a new coach and older teammates. Tryouts were rough; the older kids were picking on the 7th graders constantly. I was the only one they liked because I was good. The season got even worse. The 7th graders never played in the games and sometimes in the locker room older kids would yell at us for messing up. This was horrible to watch and be apart of.…

It was a hard game but i liked it at the time. As i grew up, i became fascinated in baseball. I never got to play but i always loved to watch games on tv. I also love to go to Pirates games. Andrew Mccutchen has always been my favorite player. I even have an autographed picture of him. I love to watch the movie 42 about Jackie Robinson. People say everyone's a winner. I really didn’t believe that when I was little. So when I was still playing tee-ball (baseball that little kids play with a tee) and I was in the championship game, I was going for blood. It was late 2008 and I was playing for the GBSF (Green Baseball Softball Federation) team named “The Aeros.” We wore purple, black and had the Akron Aeros baseball team’s logo embroidered on our hats. So anyway, this particular season, we “Titans of Tee-Ball” went undefeated. I believe we went 14-0 or something like that. It was a very crazy season, especially the championship game; but we will get back to that later. I faintly remember one particular game…

I shuffled across the field watching the running back take the ball running to the right side. I was the only one there to make the tackle Tyler and Kai both got blocked by Lineman and Landon got blocked by a receiver. I ran across the field, we both met at the pylon I only had to hit him out of bounds so I dove……. And I missed. As I fell to the ground my eyes were closed. I opened my eyes and I felt a sharp pain in my right elbow. It felt like my arm had split into 2. I looked over and I saw Landon.I said “ Landon go get the coaches I think I broke my arm.” I thought I had a broken arm. So he looked over at my arm and said “ Oh my gosh.” He started screaming for the coaches saying “Koen hurt his arm! Koen hurt his arm!” As Landon was getting them I was wondering what was going to happen to me. I was about to throw up, I…

The girl softball team had loaded first although they got put out they still was there for us. Team leader in the front of the bus and the rest filled in. The ride to the field was quite. No one talked at all during the trip to the baseball field. The bus was the place to prepare yourself. What I mean by that is the bus was for you to get your mind forced on the game of baseball. The bus was not the time to think about what you going to eat for dinner or the girl you talked to that day. Once you stepped foot on that bus it was baseball time. With us being the number 1 seed going to the champion game we had a lot of support. We had a lot of hater as well…
