One Saturday morning, I crawled out of bed and went downstairs to have breakfast. I looked out the window and saw a fresh blanket of snow which meant that it was a perfect day for snowboarding! About an hour later my brother, Jacob also came down and ate his breakfast.…
The main character feels it is an obligation to shovel the snow for the people, mainly children, who use the side-walk outside his house. The way he talks at the end of the passage can be used to infer that he feels satisfactory when he shovels the snow and the kids have no trouble…
Let me tell you about when I got to go to Winter Jam. Winter Jam is a concert where several- ten to be exact- Christian bands come together to put on one gigantic performance. I will tell you about the ride there, the time I forget my pills, and how awesome Winter Jam was. I was ecstatic to find out I was able to go last year. So let me start off by telling you about the excruciating ride there.…
Ma and pa were shouting at me. “Get inside now the black blizzard is coming!” I went inside, but I wanted to watch it. Ma and me a wet towel to cover my face with it. Then the wind was howling it broke the windows, but we covered them up it time so dirt wouldn’t come in the house. I looked outside and the only thing I saw was dirt from the black blizzard. After that “black blizzard” kicked up and in, the only thing I saw on the horizon was black from the dirt in the “black blizzard”. Then we had to move in the middle of the room. The dirt was now in the house a little bit. We curled up a little bit and held up my wet towel to my face really tight.…
I,Punxsutawney Phil, am very nervous.Tomorrow,I have to look for my shadow for the humans. I wish I was in hibernation instead of doing this. Why do the humans depend on me to do this? Why can’t they just leave me alone instead of emulating me to do this? I would rather not do this until they are actually in spring.…
About 2,500 miles east lies the cold and rainy city of Canton, Ohio. The majority of my childhood was spent inside the house as Ohio was not ideal for outdoor adventure. Although, after turning 6, I was introduced to snow skiing . It became an enjoyable hobby of mine for years. Skiing opened my eyes to the beauty of nature and the serenity it provided. I loved the smell of fresh air and the exhilarating feeling of gliding down the mountain. It is a very peaceful sport and provides a silence away from everyday life. Coincidentally, I learned of ski club in middle school where I could ski with several other students that enjoyed this exercise as well. I joined the club and looked forward to the weekly Sunday trips. It showed the importance…
The pain that shot through my veins and in my leg was like when I try to lick soup that has just came out of the stove. The agony I felt when I realized my feet weren't straight told me that I was in trouble. I knew I had to do something because if not I would be left stranded on a mountain. I will never forget the moment I broke both of my ankles.…
The day I first learned to ride on a snowboard was a monumental moment for me. Days of falling on my ass turned to weeks, into months, until finally I did it! Feelings of adrenaline pumped through my 9 year old body as I carefully made my way down the mountain.…
As we started to pull into the long driveway my palms getting sweaty from fear and the sun rising just over Nordic Mountain. I could feel my head pounding harder and harder I couldn’t keep my past from creeping into my mind. My friends (Jacob and Daniel) seem to be pretty excited “ man I can’t wait to start skiing this is my first time this year!” Jacob said looking like he hasn’t skied in 3 years. As we pulled into the parking lot, Daniel flew open the door and waited impatiently for his skis. I got out moving as slower than a sloth and feeling sick to my stomach.…
A perfect Fall day would occur and a warm, Saturday evening in October. It would be with my family. My dad and I would go to the the store and get some sweet candy, some popcorn, pumpkins, and a movie that we can watch when we get home. When we get back to the house we will go outside and lay down some plastic because, we are going to carve pumpkins. We usually all carve funny faces in are our pumpkins, so it looks like they are laughing at us. I hate the smell of pumpkins I feel like I’m going to die. After we are done with our pumpkins we all go wash our hands, when we are done washing our hands we order pizza from Dominos. While the pizza is coming we get our movie ready for when the pizza gets here we can start watching it.…
As I’m walking down the street a few blocks away from where I work I step into a big snow bank. The snow seeps into my boots and sends a chill up my spine.…
I couldn’t sleep all night tossed and turned in the bed, even tried meditation! Currently, I am on winter break in a different time zone and my routine changed. To be hones I was dreaming for this time, to sleep and wake up anytime I want. Yesterday, I fall asleep on the sofa while my little niece playing with mother and there was a considerable amount of noise which usually I can’t bear it. No matter how much my little niece was play her cute cards to wake me up with kisses, I couldn’t opened my eyes. There is a fatigue in my body even though I didn’t do anything physically to force me but it seems the stress of the semester and also helping my bestie to move out should be the source of fatigue. Instead of rolling inside the bed, I came to…
“Slow down!” my mom yelled at me I couldn’t. I just kept moving faster and faster. I was doing everything I could but it wouldn’t work. Crash! Bang! I fell on the hard snow so I wouldn’t crash into the net.…
After a quick breakfast and strong coffee, we were all ready for the next adventure together. The day was frosty – 18 degrees of Fahrenheit. My dad had always told me the when you hear the snow crunching underfoot, the temperature is 18 degrees, and I never knew how he knew that, but he was right. The air was so brisk and fresh, and the smell was reminiscent of fresh hay. I do not know why, but all alpine villages have the same smell, and thanks to the nice odor, I can always recognize where I am.…
It distracted me to a point of almost forgetting that there was a semi-truck pummeling towards me, with no ability to halt or even slow down. All I could do was appreciate the beauty of winter, which I had never been able to do before due to my stubborn hatred for cold weather. As I turned my head back to the left of me, it all came back; the screaming, the crying, the honking of horns and the semi’s brakes still squealing in an attempt to stop himself before he hit me. The headlights seemed to move so slow now.…
