Personal Narrative: Saturday Art Analysis
“Mom! Can you draw for me”, a common phrase that echoed from our small Brooklyn apartment, see when I saw my mom, I saw a hero, my protector, and one of my biggest influences. She would always entertain and illustrate my wildest imaginations, from Dinosaurs to dragons to James Bond, the mind of that Pre-Schooler seemed to never rest. But one day my mom did something new, she gave me the paper and pencil, and I would sketch, sketch and sketch until the days came to end. And by the time kindergarten came around I was already enthused with art, oozing a new love of painting, a love that still reigns supreme today. I find painting to be my favorite medium. Something I truly wish to master. From the time I was a young child to where I am now I see …show more content…
I was introduced to Pratt. Through my Elementary school art teacher, Ms.Johnson, who had recommended my mom to look into applying me to Saturday Art School at Pratt, from then on, Pratt became my home. I have taken nearly 8 years of Saturday Art School then was introduced to a true honor in being in the first class of a brand new program at the time, Pratt Young Scholars, marking up about 17 consecutive semesters of Pratt courses, courses in which I have taken during my Elementary, Middle and High School years. I have even taken Pre College at Pratt. These classes on top of my art heavy curriculum at my high school has made my life nothing but art. My high school teachers have left an everlasting effect on me, these teachers being Sarah Holcomb, Carlos Rosado and Spy Kontarinas. Each and everyone inspiring me to the very best I can, and even inspiring me to consider art education as a potential career for myself, their teaching methods have inspired me and I have created my best works whilst under the pressure of deadlines they have set and the standards I set, particularly high ones. I grew up on the Pratt campus, I grew up with the Pratt Institute. I plan to continue to grow on this campus, I plan to continue

Throughout the course of my junior year, I have been challenged to be the best artist of my ability. As a graphic designer, I have learned to view things in a different light and learned to express my creativity. Although I am still learning new things everyday about how to become a better artist, I have improved tremendously in every way ranging from the thought process all the way to finalizing each project, and I think that as the days go by I will continue to do well in my high school graphic design career, but in continuing my education in this major and working in a field closely related to it. I have produced at least 5 projects that reflect my passion for graphic design including the New York World’s Fair, currency recreation, and the handmade film poster from the first semester of my junior year and from the second half up until my most recent project, a book jacket, and an organic drink package design.…

Before I came to Randolph-Macon, I was narrow-minded, not social, and was against coming out of my comfort zone. My mindset before coming to college was that I could come to college for 4 years, coming home almost every weekend, and go right back home and work on the water or work in the office of my parent’s clam and oyster company. Now I have broadened my horizons and see myself doing so much more with my life. Making it through that terrible first week of college, I realized I could make it through anything and handle anything life threw to at…

Throughout, my high school years many teachers, family members, and friends have struggled to push the students to do more within their school. Many said that they wanted to leave behind a story, still several students never fully understood the teacher's reasons. However, after properly maturing and developing while in school, I have learned the importance of making a ‘legacy’ for yourself. Every so often I wondered what was the point of attending a place for a reasonable amount of time and not making memories. For this reason, if I was allowed to be a part of Howard’s student body I would acknowledge the hardship and struggle of many that weren't allowed to attend college; by doing this my action would, hopefully, reflect on other individuals, while giving many the inspiration to make a…

The look on my mother’s face reminded me of a pit bull ready to pounce. In fact, she growled when I told her Tommy would be my mentor during a three year apprenticeship pro-gram. Furthermore, she snickered at the part where Tommy praised my artistic abilities and thought I had the potential to become an ink icon. With nothing more to say,…

When I went to the art museum, I had no idea that I would come into contact with one of my favorite Impressionists artists. I spent hours walking through the museum, gallery after gallery. Each piece was beautifully created. I saw portraits, prints, sculptures, all eccentric in their own way. My family, quickly paced, moved through the maze of colors with lightning speed. As for me, each one had an intricate story and detail that I was determined to learn.…

I surpassed my barriers and became Head Captain of my color guard while obtaining an officer position in other organizations such as National Honor Society and Business Professionals of America. As junior year began, I looked into different fields of creativity and discovered that graphic designing and creating things for others really was what really truly made me happy. It is set as my lifetime goal to pursue my life in a huge magazine company, Vogue, and become an Art Director or Editor-in-Chief. My creativity was hidden until I found a way to bring it out, and granting all this, I may not become the world’s most famous jeweler, but I feel like I have succeeded in unraveling my character and future career, and to me that is all that…

As a high school senior I sat in my room trying to decide my future in a day among dozens of college pamphlets. Somewhere at the bottom of all of those brochures was one for Motlow State Community College. Not only was it at the bottom of my pile, but it was completely outside of my radar at the time. Now, so many months later, I am sitting in a room on the Motlow campus typing this. I never once imagined myself here. Nevertheless, attending this school and joining the honors program was one of the best decisions I have made in my life. Going on outings with other members of the honors program allowed me to get to know my peers, and in turn allowed me to become more confident in both my verbal and social skills. This will impact my future tremendously…

My survival art project represents a die. A die has six sides, and when rolled, it is completely random. There is no warning before the die is rolled, telling us what you are about to roll. That is just like life. There is no warning before a bump goes right into your path. You could have a problem that affects you today or your future. These problems could be anything from your family, pets, health, friends, finances, or your education. In family problems, it could be your parents getting a divorce, or losing a loved family member. In pet problems, you could have your pet ruin your house, or they could be needed to be put down. In health, you could have something as severe as cancer, or something as little as a scrape. In friends…
