Personal Narrative: Ruby
I promised Stella I would get Ruby into a better place, but why does it matter, she just got here. Shouldn’t she have to die here just like all the rest of us. She's just a little elephant and with her, maybe we'll be able to get some visitors. If anyone should get out of here it's me, because I’ve been here the longest time not the little elephant Ruby. I feel that I’m better than everyone else and it even says it on the billboard, “Come see the one and only Ivan mighty silverback.” I haven't had people of my own kind in forever, yet she just had people of her own kind before she got here. So instead of keeping my promise to Stella I’m going to get myself into one of those zoos where I can have people of my own kind. Now what will I do to get myself into one of theses zoos? Will I use Ruby to help get me attention, or will I paint a picture of myself? …show more content…
But where will I get the paint and paper? Will Julia give it to me or will I take it? What will I be doing in my picture? Will I be in a zoo or will I be in this cage trying to make people feel bad for me? Will I have other gorillas or animals? The picture I will paint is of me in a zoo with other gorillas so the people will only feel bad for me. It must work, I deserve to get out of the big top mall and nobody else does. I began to paint after Julia gave me some paper and paint. After I was finished, Julia and her dad figured out my picture and called a zoo. I'm getting taken to a zoo in 3 days. I'm so happy because I deserve it more than

When asked to write about a childhood experience most people think of the time they lost their first tooth when they were 6, or about the time they started school when they were 5, however, I’m going to write about summer. It wasn’t just any summer it was the summer that I went to the lake with my Dad and Papa. I was about 4 and couldn’t be any more excited about what was going to happen…

The chimp’s face is large and takes up most of the center of the page. There are also vertical rusty bars dissecting his face. Most of his body has been cut off. Nothing surrounds the chimpanzee but darkness. Giving the whole visual a dark or sad like mood. He has no friends or family. He is all alone. He has no bed or sustenance. The chimp has no hope or future. The darkness in this visual is portraying how dark these animals’ futures really are. He seems to have a pretty bleak existence.…

“Not like that!” My sister Hana used to yell at me every time I paused the video tape of a cartoon show. I would stand over the TV screen with my paper on the screen and pencil in my hand, copying my favorite characters. “I told you to draw, not to copy” she would add. “I want it to be perfect!” was my reply. At a very young age, I developed a passion for drawing. My sister used to challenge me to draw some of our favorite cartoon characters. From these humble beginnings I started to develop into a skilled painter. When my father recognized my talent, he bought me several drawing books. Although I have always enjoyed creating different types of art, portraits (drawing a person’s facial features), captured my interest the most. Portraits require…

Throughout the course of my junior year, I have been challenged to be the best artist of my ability. As a graphic designer, I have learned to view things in a different light and learned to express my creativity. Although I am still learning new things everyday about how to become a better artist, I have improved tremendously in every way ranging from the thought process all the way to finalizing each project, and I think that as the days go by I will continue to do well in my high school graphic design career, but in continuing my education in this major and working in a field closely related to it. I have produced at least 5 projects that reflect my passion for graphic design including the New York World’s Fair, currency recreation, and the handmade film poster from the first semester of my junior year and from the second half up until my most recent project, a book jacket, and an organic drink package design.…

I just wanted to touch base because my dad and I have been talking and have come to the conclusion that we both feel that I've never really been able to voice my reasoning for doing what I did and, if I was give the opportunity it was given to me in a very stressful time. As I'm sure you know I was made the section leader of my band's alto saxophone section and a part of that responsibility was leading small group rehearsals, getting people to work, and things like that. Brandon was a member of my section and didn't make that job easy. He always seemed to find a way to make it difficult to lead a rehearsal whether it be goofing around, talking to other people, or not playing the piece of music that we were trying to practice it always…

I sucked in my unhappiness and we went to the gift shop to buy tickets. After that, we went around the first half of the Zoo. Only the bear was awake while all the other animals slept. After looking around the first half a bit, I felt very dissatisfied until we saw the second half of the Zoo. My hopes went high again and as we passed the restrooms I saw those same bushes with purple flowers. The bees buzzed around them making an irritating drone as they hopped from flower to flower in a dreadful way. I quickly panicked and ran away from the bees to another exhibit. My parents followed me as I looked at a model of generators that powered the zoo. We continued down the path leading to turtles, which I ignored because of my boredom with the place. We saw some foxes which are my favorite animal and helped my mood a little bit. However, due to the lack of animals that were up and about (except for the vulture, hawk, bear, and fox) and the lack of variety in animals, I began to complain about how this trip was a waste of time. My father commented that the purple flowers attracted bees and would you know it, I was wearing purple pants and shirt with purple flowers. I began to have a whining fit on how I hated coming here, that the clothes I wore were an awful choice, and that my mother should have listened to me and we should’ve went to the humane…

It was around nine a.m. on a crisp spring morning when I decided to go on a hike. I drove over to our public hiking trail and parked by the “Ruby hiking trail’ entrance. I got out of my car and grabbed my backpack that had my water bottle, salad, sweatshirt, and blanket in it. As I was walking down the trail, I heard birds singing, trees creaking, deer running, rabbits hopping, and a light breeze. About an hour into the hike, I started to get hungry. However, it was only about ten a.m. and I was hungry for lunch. I kept hiking down the trail so I could find a place to lay out my blanket. As I was walking I saw a sign that said “12 miles”, that meant that I had already walked twelve miles in one hour. After passing the sign, there was an open…

When I look at this picture I can see a chance, a possibility, it is not determined or pre-selected, but it exists. It reminds me about how people can easily say, “I give up!”, “It is too hard”, “It is too tiring” or “How long do I need to wait?”. My answer is “You need to wait just a bit”. One wise quote says, “After the storm, the rainbow comes” and I follow this quote for my whole life. However, I have also generated my own quote, “There is a light at the end of the pathway. You just need to make one more step to see it” and no matter how many times do I need to repeat it to myself about the same problem, which I encounter. Still, I can always see the light. The same with this picture, the tunnel depicts the life- path filled with the creations, wonders and dangers of life and there is a rainbow at the other end but while walking inside the tunnel, you cannot see it, only feel it. The painter is a creator of a life. I usually consider myself a painter and my life is a big painting, so I should decide which brush do I need to use, in which colors do I need to paint, whether the texture will be rough or smooth and which art elements do I want to add to my painting? All of these I can choose. The only one thing, which stays still, is a tunnel. Nonetheless, a canvas is not a crucial part of the masterpiece. It is solely my choice how my artwork will turn out. I can make a beautiful thing from anything. I can arrange decorations and add some interesting features to my…

Zoo’s are an attraction for many each year, but not enjoyed by the animals behind the steel bars and glass windows. Would being locked in a cage and have visitors looking in while pounding the glass and rumbling the bars be a day worth enjoying? Of course, not. These actions are what the animals facial and body expressions reveal to visitors taking pictures. The zoo’s guests, being excited to be there and admiring the animals, cannot place themselves on the other side. Visitors sees only how everything appears to be perfect for their viewing pleasure. Simply stated, animals should not be locked in cages. For instance, elephants that are…

We first pass the Sphinx. Miss Taylor attempted to answer the riddle the Sphinx gave us (What number do you get when you multiply all of the numbers on a number pad?), but did not succeed. She thought the answer was 367,974, but the answer was actually 0. We moved on to the next exhibit: the unicorn petting zoo. It was really cool to pet the beautiful creatures. They would bow down, and allow us to pet their mane and head. I listened to the sign, and avoided their horns because the unicorns don’t like their horns being touched. This whole time Zookeeper Rodger was explaining how each creature is cared…
