Personal Narrative: Rock Music
Music
Music, it defines each and every one of us. From the beat of the song to the deep meaningful lyrics with stories hidden within the lyrics, music describes our personality and who we are. Along with that, music can also change our perspective on life or certain, delicate, subjects that we as humans tend to talk about. The voice, known as music, truly has shaped each and every single one of us in different and beautiful ways.
When I exercise, I see it as a way to release the stress and anger I’ve been containing within me. Some of my rock music has to do with anger and hatred towards a certain topic, giving me a sense of motivation as i exercise. The addition of anger from the rock music allows my blood to boil and pushes me into punching harder or running faster. Therefore, the more anger put into the song, in my case, the more determined I am to to complete the exercise.

I tend to listen to rock music once again when I feel just about any way. I can listen to somewhat calm, steady, rock, but the main point is that the lyrics have to have real meanings that speak to me. Most will talk about issues and struggles which can give others an insight to my mindset that I typically can’t find the words to describe. These kinds of songs allow me to understand my own feelings at times. They help me describe my mood when I’m speechless. Music is basically my voice in someone else's words. Music helps me out more than anyone could ever

The next stop on my musical journey is the Rolling Stones. My mom holds a very special place in her heart for the Rolling Stones and this trait has been passed down to me. I picked the song Beast of Burden to represent our mutual love for the Rolling Stones because not only does it remind me of pleasant memories, but it is also just a feel-good song. When I went to Kindergarten I had half days so every day I could help my mom make dinner and I can still remember sitting on the counter rolling meatballs while my mom and I jammed out to her Rolling Stones tape cassettes. Beast of Burden is the type of song that takes on a life of its own because the drums and the bass provide a solid foundation and a strong tempo, while the guitars and the vocals…

My love for music began in middle school. At that time, I was socially awkward with very few friends. To compensate, I buried myself in music. My dedication led to many honors and admiration from my peers. However, when I got to high school, my relationship with music fundamentally changed. The arrival of an overly demanding teacher coupled with a long episode of depression robbed me of my passion to play. As time progressed, the pain I felt became too much to bear, and I became desperate for an outlet in which I could express myself positively. My quest led me to music once more, but classical was no longer the genre of choice. It was in hip hop and rap music that I found the will to overcome mental illness.…

As a human being, there are plenty of behaviors that I have not tried because the thought of accomplishing them has never crossed my mind. One of these behaviors happen to be rock climbing. I am not a very athletic person but this is something that I have never done before. Thinking about how this could’ve changed my life, if I was ever interested, is such a deep thought and shows how just a certain behavior can be a huge or small influence in someone’s life.…

This was my first time in the McCray hall theater, the organ is a very nice addition to the hall the gold leaf was a perfect choice. The general attire of the audience was casual among the younger attendees where the older attendees were more formal where I wore kaki cargos and a black french cuffed shirt. there were a lot of ties stock button ups was the main shirt worn, very few informal outfits that evening. The age range of the audience was possibly around age 15 to age 80 give or take a few years, most of the people who showed up were college students though the rest was made up, of about 16 or so, elderly couples.…

Speaking from my experiences, I can tell you that I appreciate many genres of music. For example, I adore rock music; rock is my favorite music because of its complex rhythm, chromatic elements, and tonal nuances. Since most of country music has evolved into a rock music hybrid, I also take pleasure in listening to it. The blues are intoxicating to me as I let go of any problems that I may have. I find listening to the tonic triad of jazz to be soothing; no other music can mimic jazz’s harmonic implications. Classical music is more emotionally oriented than sound oriented for me, I experience joy, excitement, passion, vigor, etc., when I listen to different classical pieces. When I want to listen mindlessly to music, I select pop music,…

I know music. There is not a single important memory I have that is not tied to a song, a genre, or an instrument. I met my first best friend through EDM and for my fifteenth birthday I received my first record player. Long, mundane car rides with my dad remind me of classic rock on FM radio, and the memories of my little sister loving pop music since she was old enough to crawl will forever have a special place in my heart.…

Music is perhaps what structured the young man I have become today. From a young age, I have always had a passion for music, especially performing it, so I decided to join percussion in 6th grade for school band. There, I was able to capture the joy I had of performing for others. I thrived so much through performing, so I continued to play percussion up to my senior year of high school. However, during this time, I was going through a year long abusive relationship that took a major toll on my skill. Eventually, I hit a low and considered quitting band due to lacking the skill I used to have. I couldn’t properly play music, and even chose to not participate in auditioning for All-Region band. My percussion teacher and band director noticed…
