Personal Narrative On Track And Field
Track and Field is my second favorite sport. I like to complete with student my age in events like, long jump and 400 meters. My coach always told me to stretch more before and after my event. Some torn muscle fibers in my left quadriceps taught me listen to my coach and stretch more before an event.
It was our Regional track meet for my school. We were going to May River High School. My coach sent out an email to the our teacher to release all track runners early that day. The whole day before the track meet, I felt stiffness inside my left quadricep but, I was confident that I was going to do good in my all my events. When me and my teammates arrived at May River it was very hot. My first event which was long jump was about to started. Me and my teammate that was doing the same event, started quickly to stretch for it. We did a quick and simple warmup and then sat down because of the heat.

I thought to myself I should have stretch more thoroughly. I was one of the last ones to attempt my jump in my flight. When it was my turn, I got on the runway and prepared my jump routine. When I was ready I started to run as fast as I could down the runway. I approach the jumping line and jumped as far as I could. The moment I landed in the long jump pit is and moment I knew something was wrong with my quad. After my first attempt, I started to stretch my quad more. Soon after that is was my second attempt to long jump. I prepared my jump routine and when I started to run I felt excruciating pain is inside my left quadricep. I told my coach that I was in too much pain to finish that

In 2008, I was a eight year old and, regrettably, a member of the Saint Joseph Cross Country team. I consistently finished in the last five runners, and despised every moment that I spent training for the race season. Even though I began running cross country in elementary school, I was never a natural. After years, I was allowed to quit. By the time I was a freshman in high school, I had forgotten my hatred of running. After much enticement from my mother - a runner herself - I joined Bowling Green High School’s Cross Country team. Halfway through the first practice, I remembered every reason why I had quit the sport years earlier. Regardless of how much I begged my mom, she insisted that I finish the season. I was stuck with two choices:…

The most memorable thing that happened to me was when I first discovered what I’m really good at. I came across inspiring Youtube videos of old classic Roller Derby and recent ones that were published only a year ago, I knew from the moment I laid eyes on those quads that I had to try it. In less than two weeks I was a complete natural at skating, I was all about skates. I practiced all the derby stances, exercises, techniques you name it I am absolutely in love with this sport. but as much as I fantasized about doing it I never thought that I’d actually get the chance to be part of their world and have training by the Derby Dames Juniors Freshmeat Association crew, which are ranked the top thirty-one in the united states!…

To express his believe about stretching one’s limit, the great Guy Finley had once stated, “The limit of your present understanding is not the limit of your possibilities.” Inspired by his quote, I, Giang Pham, believe that I would be a valuable member of McGarvin’s Academic Pentathlon team. Based on my personal knowledge of Pentathlon, I have first-handedly experience the soul of a Pentathlete through various study sessions at Ethan Allen. Because of this, I have developed a deep insight of the components necessary to be a true Pentathlete. In addition to having first-hand experience, I also have extremely high expectations for both myself and other students, for it is essential in my academic growth. Coming up on the ASAA Track and Field championships, I developed achilles tendonitis which inevitably ruined my high school running career. I couldn’t believe that me of all people had gotten injured. I was very involved with injury prevention and performed strengthening exercises, stretches, made safe decisions, and had very a very healthy diet on a daily basis. Over the next eighteen months I visited over six different experts who claimed that they recognized my injury and knew how to treat it. After nearly three months without any noticeable improvement I began to conduct my own research and try to correct my problem myself. I developed a keen interest in the field of rehabilitation and the many mysteries that the body held. When the time…

Two days. Two days was how long the break between training for track, and training for cross country started. As a team our goal was to have the top 12 guys run 500 miles each, which at the time seemed to be an unreasonable goal. However Coach Hampton was confident that this was a reachable goal and encouraged not only the top 12 guys, but the the JV guys as well, to join in and train with the top 12.This was the summer of 2016, I had just had track state and made it to finals for the 4x8 only to get my relay disqualified because I cut into the inside lanes of the track before the cut off line. This had been our goal all season, make it to state, get to finals, and see what happens. Causing my relay to get disqualified is one my worst moments…

I was at practice one Wednesday night of January the 11th, in the middle of a defensive drill In which I planted my foot and put all my weight on it ready to turn the ball handler. Then made a quick few steps then dropped to the hardwood I was in a world of hurt. I quickly grabbed at my leg grimacing with pain as my head laid back. I tried to hold back tears, after receiving help to sit down I could feel the cooling of ice on my leg, however, I wasn't able to pinpoint the exact part the pain was coming from. My dad had to come and pick me up and I could not put any weight whatsoever on my leg for literally three days. My mom took me to get an x-ray the next day, the doctor said: “Well the x-rays don't show anything let’s wait a while and if you still have any complications then we’ll schedule an MRI.” About a week and a half went by until I finally got the MRI it took about an hour and the machine kept giving off these strange loud noises it was weird. Then we had to wait for a few days to get the results, It was that Saturday at six o'clock that me and my brother and sister were at my grandma’s then my mom called asking to speak to me I picked up the phone not expecting what I was about to hear, “Cameron, the results came back and you have a completely torn ACL, you need to come home and get back on the crutches.” It felt like I just got shot, I was not expecting a torn…

My sophomore year while playing in a football game, I tackled a player from the other team right before half-time. While I was making the tackle, I felt a pop in my knee. It wasn’t very painful because of the adrenaline in my system at the time but the next day the pain came. It felt like there was a rubber band getting caught on my knee and coming off almost every step I took. I just put this pain aside through part of basketball season until the pain was too much and I went to get a check up, then a MRI, then before i knew it I had to get surgery for a torn meniscus. This ended my basketball season. After surgery I went to my rehab physical therapist Dr. Marty in Centralia. He got my knee back in good working order after…
