Me and my dad where at Gary Yamamoto's Ranch fishing, the whole day dad and I didn’t catch much,we caught 6,3 pound bass, and one 4 pounder. A very nice woman named Megen Farley worked at Gary Yamamoto's Ranch. Since me and my dad weren't catching much we were thinking about going home.Megan asked us,” If we wanted to fish with live bait.”We said yes and she helped us catch the bait. After that we caught a catfish and a small bass, then we decided to start packing up.

Jerry and I started our first day together around 8 in the morning, he was very laid back and treated lobstering as a hobby rather than a job, not to say we wouldn’t work hard. I met him in front of my apartment and we drove to the Portland harbor where he bought the bait we would use for that day. He uses haddock, which was fileted the night before and sold, by the barrel to the local lobstermen. After we loaded the barrels of dead haddock, we were off to Falmouth to load the boat. Jerry has been lobster fishing for almost 20 years and is very passionate about lobstering. He has 800 traps in the water which is the maximum amount allowed by the State of Maine. He has accumulated this many over the years after starting with only 25 traps. He has ten traps on a string, so he has 80 strings in the water. Once arriving to the Falmouth Town Landing my real work began. Jerry rowed out to his boat that was secured on a mooring, and I was in charge of dragging the barrels of bait down to…

A reason is because he automatically sets up his fishing supplies as if it was a habit. He also seems very passionate and knowledgeable about fish. Another reason is because while he was on the date with Shelia he seemed much more focused on the fish than her. When he talked with Shelia about fishing instead of removing it from the boat he just hid it. During most of the boat ride he was dealing with the fish and pretending to listen to her. And a third reason he could choose the Bass is because in part of the story he refers to Shelia as a memory.…

I have a deep interest in the ocean and marine life, which was fostered when my family and I moved to the Pacific Coast. This interest grew further after I went on a backstage tour to the aquarium at the Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo. Due to this continuous exposure to the ocean and the creatures that live there, I am focusing my education around my interest in marine life. It's for this reason that I’m majoring in Marine Biology with a minor in Chemistry. With this education, my goal is to become an Aquarist, and build my way up to becoming an ocean or aquarium diver. As a diver, I want to have the opportunity to study coral reefs, and create and implement conservation plans. In addition, I want to study sea turtles and ways to conserve their declining…
