Personal Narrative: Northeast Middle School Football
Good Evening Mr. Forrest, this is Sean Anderson. I wanted to send this report involving the girl's basketball coach from Northeast Middle School. Me and Jason Collins were the officials at West Creek Middle School vs Northeast Middle School. The games started at 4:45. During the second game, which was the girl's basketball game, my partner Jason Collins made a ruling against Northeast in the 4th quarter. The girl's head coach did not like the ruling and venting her frustrations toward us. She screamed" her player was not there for the foul". While I was administering the free throws I heard her screaming and gave her the stop sign signal and told her ok that's enough. I didn't administer no technical foul even though she continue …show more content…
I gave the coach warning to hurry up with the sub. The girl's basketball coach was at the scorer when she heard me say that. The very next sub was from West Creek, they didn't take as long as Northeast has with their subs. The girl's basketball coach starting screaming "why don't you throw the ball in for them, and they are taking long!" As I'm administering the free throws, I can hear her yellowing from the table. I stop the game, ask her to remove herself from the table. She wasn't a book keeper, score keeper, or timer. I went to the boy's head coach and told him to control your coaching staff. I told him she is the head coach for the girl's team and I will access a technical foul to you if her behavior continues. I The boys coach from Northeast didn't understand why he would get a technical. I explained it to him, and just said whatever. The girls basketball coach from Northeast was very angry at this time and told the scorer and time keeper I want their names so I can report them. During half time, the score and the time keeper told us the girls coach from Northeast Middle School wants your name. I told them to give it to her, we didn't do anything wrong. While in the hallway talking to the

It started out like any other day. I got out of bed and scrambled to get out the door after I took an extra hour in the shower. I hopped into a seat next to my best friend Erin. We talked for the ten minute ride before finally arriving at school. I sat down in homeroom waiting for the bell to ring. Brrriinnngggg! I rushed to Mrs. Gregory’s room for Lit. Everything was fine until gym class. I had forgotten my assignment notebook in Mrs. Saphir’s room so I ran back upstairs to get it from under my chair. As I started to walk back towards the locker room I heard the bell ring… late! I walked into the locker room hoping Mrs. Dennis wouldn’t notice my tardiness, but my locker is right next to her office. I quickly filled out a minor for before…

a seasonal basketball tournament. Carter discovers the progress reports filled out by the faculty reveal some of the students have been skipping classes and are struggling academically. Coach Carter initiates a lockdown on the gym, banning the team from playing until they improve their grades. Coach Carter is criticized by parents and academic faculty. The school board eventually confronts Carter who justifies his actions, explaining he wants to give his team the opportunity and option to further education so they won't resort to crime. Coach insisted that achieving a sound education is more important for the students than winning basketball games. In my point of view Coach Carters administration staff and basketball parents were disengaged. The parents did not have vision or hope for their kids,…

I play quarter back for Pensacola Catholic High. To me football is one of the biggest adrenaline rushes you can get. The game is fast and I like that. When I play football I feel unstoppable and I love it. When you play quarterback the game is in your hands and it is up to you to lead your team to victory. You have to make sure your team is focused and prepared. You have to be a good leader to play quarterback. If your team starts loosing you can’t just act sad and give up. You have to do the right thing and give your team a pep talk and tell them to step up their game like a good leader would do.…

I will call her Ms. V. “Why do the girls have to learn how to play football every year and the guys get to play right away?” I say, voice strong. Not even a millisecond after I answer, Ms. V lets out the loudest, ugliest chuckle that has ever vibrated my eardrums and I remember just being taken back and grossed out. This is how you act in front of 30 middle schoolers? I just let her go on a rant about how out of place my argument was. I wanted to let her get her satisfaction without getting a reaction out of me. Ms. V would get her karma. Later in the week I typed up a well-mannered petition to get Ms. V fired or suspended. A bountiful amount of girls signed…

Why? Oh yea, that is right. My basketball coach was a selfish woman, who only coached us to receive a paycheck. After the completion of my junior year, even though it was miserable, I at least thought I would be able to still start on varsity and see playing time on the court. There I was again being wrong. She never let me play. I did not understand why and I still do not, I mean all we had added to the team from last year were a couple of new freshmen. I am not trying to sound disrespectful towards anyone, but they were not outstanding players who stood out against everyone on the team. It did not make any sense for a player to start every game of their junior year to only start two games of their senior year. Yes I said only two. I was devastated and could never figure out what I had done wrong. I even went to talk with the dreadful Coach E multiple times to see if she had answers for me, I just kept getting well if you stepped it up in practice things could change. I took that to heart thinking she actually meant it. But not to my surprise she went again lying, I gave it my all and the starting lineup still stayed the same. It was heart breaking to see a woman who I thought liked me and though of me as a good basketball player kick me to the side. What bothered me even more was I got hurt during a game. I was hurt so bad that I was out for over a month. My left MCL had tearing in it so I had to give it rest. Most coaches would call or text to check on you a couple days after the injury, but my coach did not. She obviously did not care what happened to me or if I ever returned to basketball. It is sad to say but at this point in the season I was almost happy to be hurt, I did not have to listen to her screaming or being punished all the time. I hated to feel that way towards basketball, but in all honesty Coach E made me hate the game. Coach E made me hate her. She could not have been more…

The setting was the year 2016. What I realized is to be careful about what you say to people because that could be the last time you ever talk to them again because you never know when they are going to be gone. I wish I can talk to my mom one time more than anything in the world. Miss you mom. This all started when she had gotten when she had a steroid shot in her back because it was bad then a few days later she began to have spots pop onto her back then we took her to the hospital because she was in so much pain. Then when we took her there they said to my dad she is going to have surgery on her back. After all of that had happened to figure it out she has had a really bad infection on her back then she was good for a couple of months. Then she started puking is was clear figurs…

In my sophomore year of high school I was faced with adversity on the basketball team. The coaches showed a lot of favoritism and I was not one of their players they favored. They would put me in positions to fail, like placing me as a Center when I was more suited to play Small Forward or Power Forward. They expected me to not perform well and wanted to punish me and take playing time away, but instead I worked hard and performed well enough that they could not afford to keep me on the sidelines. When I was playing in the game if I did anything wrong, something so small that it is hardly even considered a fault, my coach would pull me out of the game and yell at me. When someone else did the same thing or something worse, he would pat them on the back and tell them "You'll do better next time," or he would completely ignore it and not say a word.…

After reading these three articles between how coaches and players do not get along with them attacking each other and when a player does something terrible and the coach defends them. We all have been in a situation where we do not want to be talked to by a family member or friend just because he had a bad day, but when you bring that attitude to a sporting event or practice sometimes the player or coach my lose their composure. Which happened in the three articles that I read, dealing with Latrell Sprewell choked his coach PJ Carlesimo during practice, coach Bobby Knight choked one of his own players Neil Reed, and when Rick Carlisle defended Ron Artest and other players he coached after the brawl in Detroit. In reading those articles I feel that they told me that there is either a bad, competitive, or good relationship between a player and coach. The one with Sprewell and Carlesimo, Sprewell who showed up to practice late that day choked his coach Carlesimo because Carlesimo wanted to know where he has been for being late. Although in the article it states that racial comments were said to Sprewell, but later found out that there were no such thing. So Sprewell was fired by the Golden State Warriors, the team he played for at the time, and was suspended by the NBA for the remainder of the season. In the article about Bobby Knight choking his player Neil Reed, it was halftime during a game when Bobby Knight was still coaching the Indiana University 's men 's basketball team and Knight was so upset with his players that the one player Neil Reed said something to Knight and Knight went after him and started choking him. After the news broke out about that incident the Indiana University 's President fined Bobby Knight $30,000 and suspended him three games. In the final article I read coach Rick Carlisle defends Ron Artest 's actions against the Detroit Pistons fan that threw a cup of beer at him and then Artest went after him in that brawl we…

I asked Alyssa Ariel. We started warming up. I tried my best to look better than everyone else there. Since Dana thought I could make the Varsity team, this is my opportunity to prove it. Alyssa and I barely started peppering the ball when the coach went up to me and said it was best I left. Awkwardly, I agreed because you can’t argue with the head coach, Matt. I felt bad for Ariel because I had to leave her by herself. Luckily, she got another partner, relieving some of the feeling of guilt. I walk to my dad sitting in the bleacher. As I told him what happened, he said, “They don’t want you there because you are a distraction. It is like teasing…

The night before the game I couldn’t sleep because I was excited and nervous. When I woke up I was so excited because the game is going to start in the next few hours. My dad and I left for the game around 9:30, we were in a rush to the stadium to keep from getting lost in the millions of fans. The car was moving as fast as a cheetah. The cold November air breezing through the air, swish, swoosh. Seeing the block O on the fifty yard line gave me goosebumps, seeing my own breath made me nervous. The giant, bright, and scarlet end zones were amazing.…

Now the momentum was completely in my teams direction. We went on a 5 to 2 point run and with 1 minute left we had our first lead of the game by 1 point. The last minute was agonizing, because we didn’t even possess the ball for one minute. The opposing team kept shooting and shooting but none of their shoots would go in the hoop. Finally, in the final second of the game Kyle Coats drives hard to the hoop and misses. I gave the ref an ear full when she called a foul and gave him two foul shoots. Of course, he makes the first free throw with ease but the second one took a lucky bounce outside hope. Meaning that the game was going to overtime. Overtime was one 5 minute period winner takes all. I honestly couldn’t believe the even had overtime in intramural basketball. We drew first blood in overtime when Mike Tangredi made an easy lay up. Towards the end opposing player John Lane hit a long 2 pointer tying the game up. With a little bit more then a minute to go my teammate Joey Morath found me again in the corner for yet another 3 pointer. Unfortunately for the other team, they missed all there 3 pointers to tie the game and we took the win in…
