To become a better writer, I need to slow down. Instead of just writing whatever pops into my head, I need to see how that corresponds to my topic and thesis statement. After I have thought it
out and figured out how I want to use it in my paper, I need to write it down with complete and proper sentences. Once my paper is complete, I need to read it through a couple of time to make sure that it is comprehensible and has proper grammar usage. One thing that I have done in this course is, completing the assignment and reviewing it right after. I will then wait the next day and review it again while my head is clear and submit it.
Some step that I could take in becoming a better writer is to use the writing center that GCU offer. I could also have a peer review, review my paper and find my mistakes to me immediately. This will give me a chance to ask questions about my mistake and will help me to correct the mistake before it is correct for me. This will help me to find my grammar area fast and more effectively.
I have been in college now for six consecutive years. This has allowed me to explore all different types of writing. Some of the writing assignments that I have completed are poems, narratives, descriptive, expository, and persuasive ones. My favorite style of writing is descriptive writing. I am a very detailed writer. I like to paint a picture for my audience. This way, they can imagine themselves in the story, and rather than hearing the story.
Having completed the majority of these types of writing that I will have to endure throughout this program. In the previous course, I had failed to receive the proper tools on developing a well executive essay. Now that I have, the assignments throughout my schooling will be more developed and have a better use of grammar. The writing strategies that I need to use to be a successful writer is developing a brainstorm. After completing this, I will need to concentrate on how each key point I have, benefits my paper. Once I have developed my paper, I must read it over, have someone else read it and the following day when I have a clear head I will review it again.
