I worked three hours on Sunday 8/23/2015 at Old Navy as a cashier. Cashiering is quickly becoming one of my favorite jobs. Before I was sent to register 3, I had to go through some ethics training about Old Navy's zero harassment policy. I have had to do similar training for another job I had so this was nothing new. At the register, I faced some normal challenges a cashier faces on a average day from the computer running slow to the credit card reader not working. This week reminded me how amazing and important my job is. Friday was a busy day at the office; I was rushing to finish my work so I could leave on time. As I was about to leave I received a phone call from a hiring manager (Mark) with NOAA. Mark had questions about the interview process and was calling to speak to one of my colleagues. Unfortunately, my colleague was on vacation and wouldn’t be back for another week. I looked at the clock and realized it was time to go but I could hear the frustration in Mark’s voice. After moving to interview the United State, I went to my first job interview as a caregiver. Something I would like to change this year is turning things late. Last year I turned everything late and although I got the same credit or slightly less I would still like to turn things in when they are due. I would also want to stay on track with math. Math is what I struggle most with and last semester I got a high D almost a C, if I would’ve gotten maybe 2 questions correct on any test it would’ve bumped me up to a C- . Prior to having children, I was a cashier. I was happy as a cashier. Why? Because, I feel like no matter what job/position held a positive impact can be made. I always felt everyone from the trash man to bank owner to farmer to the President could have a positive impact and leave a positive and enduring legacy.
